Job Description

Overview

David Yurman is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to independently manage the day-to-day operations of the AR function.

This role will lead and develop the AR team while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of customer receivables and driving timely collection of outstanding balances. The Accounts Receivable Manager will provide visibility into receivable performance and credit exposure, serve as an escalation point for complex customer matters, and partner cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve the end-to-end Order-to-Cash process.

The ideal candidate combines strong AR and accounting fundamentals with an analytical and continuous improvement mindset and is comfortable leveraging data, technology, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and scalability. Key business partners include, but not limited to, Accounting, Wholesale, Order Management, Logistics, and IT.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day AR function, including collections, cash applications, customer account reconciliations, credits, deductions, adjustments, and resolution of account discrepancies.
  • Monitor AR aging and collection activity, proactively identifying past due balances, high-risk accounts, and matters requiring escalation.
  • Develop and execute collection strategies and account-specific action plans to improve cash flow, reduce aged receivables, and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Build productive relationships with key wholesale customers.
  • Manage customer credit exposure through ongoing review of credit limits, payment history, aging, open orders, financial information, and other relevant risk indicators.
  • Prepare and analyze bad debt exposure, allowance requirements, write-offs, and other Accounts Receivable reserves, providing recommendations based on aging, customer risk, collection activities, and other factors.
  • Own the monthly close activities of AR subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate AR performance metrics and trends, including aging, collection, DSO, past-due exposures, deductions, and cash application performance.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing timely, accurate, and well-supported documentation.
  • Identify root causes of recurring customer issues, deductions, payment delays, and process breakdowns and partner with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline, standardize, and automate AR process, reducing manual efforts, with improving accuracy, with a focus on AI initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and support the AR team by establishing clear priorities, accountability, performance expectations, and development opportunities.
  • Promote cross-training, documentation, and knowledge sharing to strengthen team capabilities and business continuity.

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of progressive AR, credit and collections, or related accounting function, including experience in a complex or high-volume environment.
  • Prior experience managing or developing an AR team preferred.
  • Strong understanding of AR processes, cash application, collections, account reconciliations, financial controls, and credit risks. Experience with financial close, including AR subledger-to-GL reconciliation and Balance Sheet account support.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP (Oracle E-Business Suite experience is highly desired).
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT to support AR process improvement is a plus. Ability and willingness to adopt emerging technologies is expected.
  • Highly organized and analytical. Maintains the highest standards of accuracy.
  • Articulate, with strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Driven and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with a curious mindset targeted towards efficiency and process improvement.
  • Experience within retail, luxury goods, consumer products, or a multi-channel organization preferred.
