At MITRE, your passion fuels work that impacts our nation and improves lives. This is where your skills strengthen national security, cybersecurity, health, transportation, and citizen services. We’re a nonprofit engineering, applied research, and advanced technology organization working in the public interest. With objectivity and integrity at our core, we lead federally funded research and development centers for U.S. government agencies – collaborating with industry and academia to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions that advance our nation’s health, security, and prosperity. Our people tackle the toughest technical challenges, supported by competitive benefits, meaningful career development, and a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Choose MITRE for a career with purpose — and help shape the future.

The MITRE OSW Division is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Acquisition Transformation Mission integrator and exploit lead. This mission integrator will help the N220 OSW Division and N221 department translate sponsor priorities into coordinated work programs, actionable solutions, and measurable mission outcomes. The N221 Acquisition Studies and Analysis department advances warfighter lethality, operational effectiveness, and acquisition acceleration for the Department of War.

A key responsibility is to provide a mission-focused view of acquisition capability demand: where capabilities are needed, what value they deliver to project teams and sponsors, and where MITRE should strengthen capabilities or target investment to address emerging needs. The Mission Integrator will work across MITRE National Security (MNS), MITRE Technology & Engineering (MTE), and other MITRE organizations to integrate acquisition transformation efforts, strengthen sponsor relationships, and shape future opportunities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

  • Connect work across OSW division and the Component Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs) to inform MNS-wide acquisition transformation approach and campaign plan.
  • Coordinate execution across acquisition transformation lines of effort, identifying dependencies, gaps, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Define emerging acquisition transformation challenges, assess potential MITRE responses, and lead development and execution of coordinated MITRE campaign plans.
  • Connect related efforts across sponsors to reuse proven approaches, reduce duplication, and increase the value and reach of MITRE’s work.
  • Partner with the MTE capability management lead to help refine mission-focused capability definitions and demand assessments that identify where capabilities are needed.
  • Translate demand assessments, project-team feedback, and emerging mission needs into recommendations for cross-division capability enhancements and corporate investment.
  • Partner with Division and Department leadership to establish sponsor engagement strategies aligned to the DoW acquisition transformation strategy implementation and the Business Operators for national Defense (BOND) lines of effort.
  • Integrate engagement and delivery across priorities such as PAE implementation, contracting acceleration and commercial-first approaches, modular open systems approaches (MOSA), and joint mission integration.
  • Work with Department Managers, project leaders, and capability leads to help define intended outcomes, performance measures, resource requirements, and transition approaches for critical programs and internal research and development initiatives.
  • Assess whether acquisition capabilities deliver practical value to MITRE project teams and sponsors, and coordinate improvements with MTE where gaps exist.
  • Shape and review proposals and to help build a pipeline of acquisition transformation opportunities grounded in sponsor needs and MITRE capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading acquisition transformation, acquisition modernization, or closely related defense mission initiatives at a level consistent with Senior Principal responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success translating strategy into executable work programs and measurable sponsor outcomes.
  • Proven ability to integrate work across organizational boundaries and collaborate with diverse sponsors and stakeholders to propose, shape, and lead impactful initiatives.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams and influencing sponsor and stakeholder decisions as a trusted advisor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly, influence senior stakeholders, and build trusted relationships.
  • Must have an active Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
