Overview

The Actuarial Analyst supports financial, actuarial, and strategic analytics across CINQCARE’s value-based care portfolio, working under the guidance of senior actuarial staff. This role partners with Finance, Healthcare Economics, Clinical, and Network teams to help evaluate performance, support risk analysis, and build CINQCARE’s analytics capabilities.

This position reports to the Director, Actuarial Analytics and Reporting. The Actuarial Analyst should embody CINQCARE's core values, including Trusted, Empathetic, Committed, Humble, Creative, and Community-Minded.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with actuarial analyses across Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and ACO (REACH, MSSP) populations, including support for pricing/underwriting, IBNR development, forecasting, and trend analysis.
  • Support monthly close and financial reporting processes, including data preparation for IBNR and P&L development.
  • Help analyze financial and operational performance data to identify drivers of variance across revenue, utilization, unit cost, risk adjustment, and quality.
  • Assist in developing pro forma analyses and projections for new and renewing business, under senior team guidance.
  • Support annual budget development and forecasting processes.
  • Help interpret value-based contract terms and support contract performance monitoring.
  • Work with large datasets, including claims, encounters, and enrollment data, and Medicare Advantage (MMR, MOR, MA004) and ACO (BCDA, CCLF) data sources.
  • Support risk adjustment analytics, including RAF score monitoring and revenue impact reporting.
  • Assist with clinical and network analytics, including provider performance and care model reporting, in partnership with Clinical and Network teams.
  • Support ad hoc analytics requests for internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of analytical processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Stay current on trends in value-based care, including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and CMS models.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
  • 1-2 years of actuarial, healthcare analytics, or related experience; internship experience in health insurance or actuarial consulting a plus.
  • Actively pursuing actuarial exams (progress toward ASA credential)
  • Exposure to key actuarial functions such as IBNR, pricing, forecasting, or trend analysis.
  • Interest in or exposure to Medicare, Medicaid, or CMS ACO models (MSSP / REACH).
  • Strong Excel skills; familiarity with SQL, SAS, or Python a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to claims data (DRG/HCPCS/episode groupers) and risk adjustment models (HCC/RAF).
  • Ability to help translate financial and healthcare data into clear, actionable insights.
  • High attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently on well-defined tasks and collaboratively within a team.
  • Comfort seeking guidance and escalating questions appropriately when facing incomplete information.
  • The working environment and physical requirements of the job include:
  • In-office work is performed indoors in a traditional office setting with air conditioning, artificial light, and an open workspace. When working remotely you must be available during core hours and prioritize salient work engagements.
  • In this position you will need to communicate with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers in person and over devices. Regular use of Microsoft Teams, the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Must be able to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculators, copiers, and FAX machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.
