Course: Administration of Education Finance


This course examines PK-12 education finance with a fundamental focus on issues and practices that directly affect the operation of the school and local education agency (LEA). Candidates will be exposed to the regulations encompassed in the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR) and the implications of these regulations at the school site level. School finance topics related to education at the federal, state, and local levels will be examined. Candidates will explore financial aspects of school improvement while managing change.


What You Will Do:


Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:


  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
  • Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

  • Preferred: Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Educational Administration.
  • Minimum: Masters in Educational Administration or Masters in Educational Leadership or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) AND
  • 2 areas of exceptional expertise.
  • All instructors must have a valid state principal or supervisor or superintendent certification AND
  • a minimum of three years of experience as a classroom instructor AND
  • a minimum of three years in a supervisory role to include dean of students or assistant principal or principal or district level administrator related position. OR
  • A minimum of three years in a school business administration role such as district business manager or finance direct or director of operations AND
  • At least six graduate credits related to public school finance or public school fiscal planning or accounting or principalship or superintendency.
