Position Summary The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (CHM) invites applications for the position of Senior Administrative Associate, Office of Faculty Affairs and Development. The Senior Administrative Associate serves as a senior operational and programmatic leader within the College's Office of Faculty Affairs and Development (FAD), working under the direction of the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. The position provides leadership for the development, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of college-wide faculty affairs and faculty development programs that support faculty success throughout the academic career lifecycle. Working collaboratively with department chairs, faculty leaders, RPT committee chairs, administrators, and University partners, the Senior Administrative Associate advances the College’ faculty development and academic advancement priorities. The position provides strategic oversight and guidance for faculty affairs processes while partnering with the FAD Administrator, who is responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of review procedures required for reappointment of faculty in the Health Programs track, promotion, tenure, and other related functions. The Senior Administrative Associate supervises designated FAD staff; leads assigned programs and committees; develops policies, procedures, and operational improvements; and supports the development of metrics and dashboards to assess faculty affairs and development outcomes. The position also contributes to the scholarship and dissemination of best practices in faculty affairs and development and represents the College in appropriate regional and national professional organizations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership; organizational, interpersonal, and program management skills; the ability to work effectively in a complex academic environment; and a commitment to advancing faculty success and organizational excellence. Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Higher Education Administration, Education, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, Health Administration, Health Professions Education, or a related field; Five to eight years of related of progressively responsible experience in faculty affairs, academic administration, higher education administration, faculty development, academic advancement, program administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of faculty affairs policies, procedures, and appointment systems, as well as faculty reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes. Experience developing and implementing faculty development, mentoring, leadership, or professional development programs is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in educational program design, implementation, and evaluation, along with strong leadership, organizational, project management, and communication skills. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, administrators, and institutional partners, while working independently to manage multiple complex initiatives.
