Salary Range: $45,000.00 To $60,000.00 Annually Help protect one of the nation's most vital water systems. The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) manages the water resources of a 27,500-square-mile basin across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York—supporting drinking water for more than 4 million people while balancing the needs of communities, industry, agriculture, and ecosystems. The Commission is seeking an Administrative Specialist 1 to support its Planning & Operations program. This position provides essential administrative and grant support that directly enables the agency's mission of ensuring adequate water supplies, protecting water quality, and managing the basin's resources for present and future generations. What You'll Do Support the Program Manager with scheduling, correspondence, meetings, travel arrangements, and special events. Prepare, edit, proofread, and format reports, grant applications, grant agreements, progress reports, presentations, and public documents. Provide administrative support throughout the grant lifecycle by maintaining grant files, tracking deadlines and reporting requirements, coordinating documentation, and assisting with grant submissions and closeout activities. Monitor grant-related correspondence and maintain organized records to support compliance with grant requirements and agency procedures. Assist with tracking grant budgets, expenditures, invoices, and supporting documentation in coordination with program and finance staff. Manage records, databases, mailing lists, and other program information using Microsoft Office and electronic filing systems. Help maintain the agency website. Greet visitors, answer phones, manage office supplies, and provide day-to-day administrative support to the Planning & Operations program. What You Bring Four years of progressively responsible experience in clerical, typing, and grant/administrative support work. At least two years of appropriate post-high school administrative support education. Strong writing, proofreading, organizational, and administrative skills. Experience providing administrative support for grants, contracts, or federally or state-funded programs, including maintaining records, tracking deadlines, and coordinating documentation, is preferred. Experience preparing, editing, and formatting professional reports, grant materials, and business correspondence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently. Good judgment and a professional, courteous manner when working with staff, partners, funding agencies, and the public. Ability to learn grant administration procedures, agency policies, and new software systems. Why SRBC Mission that matters. Your work directly supports clean water and healthy communities. Hybrid schedule. Office collaboration plus remote flexibility. Great benefits. Competitive salary, health insurance, and a defined-benefit pension through the Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System. Your voice matters. A stable, collaborative agency where initiative is welcomed and careers are built. A team that has your back. A supportive, collaborative culture where people genuinely care about each other's work and wellbeing—and where work-life balance isn't just a buzzword. No civil service exam required. A cover letter with salary expectations (range from $45,000 to $60,000) and a resume highlighting relevant administrative and grant support experience are required and must be submitted by August 31, 2026 . SRBC is an equal opportunity employer. Visit our website at www.srbc.gov .
