Agency Development Manager

Remote, East Coast territory or Texas territory with occasional travel to meet agents

Get to know us

OpenRoad Insurance is a specialty insurance company providing auto insurance for classic and modern collector vehicles. Our mission is to support the enthusiast community by offering collector vehicle owners insurance coverage and product features that provide them the unique protection they require. We wrote our first policies in 2025, so you have an opportunity to grow a young territory in a rapidly growing company.

What you'll do

  • Own your territory's production plan and the strategy to hit it
  • Prospect and appoint new agencies through cold outreach, referrals, industry networking, and market research
  • Ask for the business, work through objections, and drive each agency from first conversation to first submission to consistent producer
  • Build real relationships with agency owners, producers, and CSRs so you know their goals and where collector vehicles fit
  • Train agents on our appetite, product, and portal, and remove friction that keeps business from flowing
  • Grow the agents you already have by finding untapped opportunity in their book and moving them from one policy to many
  • Manage your pipeline visibly, so you and your leader always know what's coming and what needs a push
  • Bring the market back to us: competitor intel, product gaps, and what agents say they need

Work Environment:

You will work from a home office and run most of your territory by phone, video, and email, with occasional travel to meet agents in person and attend industry events. This role offers a base salary plus bonus opportunity tied to production.

How you'll be measured

Newly appointed agencies, activation rate of those appointments, new business written premium, and growth of your existing agency book.

What you need

Three or more years in insurance, a quota-carrying sales role, or B2B channel or partnership sales where you grew revenue through someone else's business.

Who you are

  • Driven and self-motivated, with a track record of hitting or beating a sales target you can walk us through
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with people who did not ask to hear from you
  • Persistent past the first yes: you keep working an agency after the appointment until it's producing consistently
  • Consultative but not passive: you can diagnose an agency's needs and then close
  • Organized and self-directed, able to run your own calendar and priorities without someone building it for you
  • Strong verbal and written communication, in person and on the phone
  • Comfortable in multiple systems, including CRM, rating, and policy platforms

Nice to have

  • Experience selling to or working with independent insurance agencies
  • Active Personal Lines or P&C license
  • Existing relationships with independent agencies in the East Coast
  • Personal interest in collector vehicles, car culture, or the enthusiast community
  • Experience selling for a carrier newer to a market or launching a new product

Work from home requirements

  • Designated workspace free from noise and distraction
  • High-speed internet

Benefits Package:

  • Dental, Vision and Health Care
  • Paid Time Off and Sick Time Off
  • Matching 401k contributions
  • Maternity and Paternity Leave
  • And more.
