Release Train Engineer (RTE)

Location – UK remote (Glasgow hybrid preferred)

What we do at Weir

We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What you’ll do

· ART Leadership & Facilitation: Lead and facilitate PI Planning and major ART ceremonies such as ART Syncs, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt events. Create an environment that supports collaboration, transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making.

· Planning Interval Execution: Drive execution of PI objectives across the Agile Release Train (ART). Coordinate planning, sequencing, and delivery across multiple Agile teams. Track progress and support timely corrective actions to ensure delivery success.

· Impediment, Risk & Dependency Management: Remove or escalate impediments affecting multiple teams. Identify, manage, and communicate cross-team and external dependencies. Maintain visibility of risks and implement practical mitigation strategies.

· Coaching & Continuous Improvement: Coach leaders, teams, Scrum Masters, and Agile practitioners in SAFe, Agile, and Lean ways of working. Promote DevOps practices and continuous improvement across the ART using feedback loops and retrospectives.

· Alignment & Stakeholder Management: Align with Product Management and key stakeholders on product vision, strategy, roadmaps, and PI objectives. Collaborate with System Architects and Engineering to align technical decisions with ART goals. Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to Business Owners, executives, and delivery stakeholders.

· Travel Requirements: Minimal travel expected; primarily hybrid work with occasional visits to key locations as needed.

· Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

· Proven experience leading large-scale Agile programmes involving multiple teams, ideally in an RTE, Scrum Master, or Agile Programme Manager role.

· Expertise in SAFe, Agile, and Lean principles with strong facilitation skills for PI Planning and ART ceremonies.

· Strong ability to manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and stakeholder relationships effectively.

· Excellent communication, servant-leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves:

· SAFe Release Train Engineer certification or equivalent practical SAFe experience.

· Experience with Agile planning and delivery tools such as Jira or Planview.

· Background in technology, engineering, or business with relevant degree or professional experience.

· Familiarity with DevOps practices and continuous improvement frameworks.
