Role OverviewWe are seeking a high-energy, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to spearhead our expansion in Colombia. Your primary mission is to identify, vet, and sign up new authorized dealers to sell our advanced Tractor Auto-steering Systems. You will not just be selling a product; you will be building a nationwide distribution infrastructure from scratch.
This is a hunter role for someone who understands the Colombian agricultural dealer landscape and knows how to pitch a high-tech value proposition to traditional machinery businesses.
Key Responsibilities (Strategic Focus on Prospecting)- Dealer Acquisition: Actively scout and recruit agricultural machinery dealers, spare parts distributors, and ag-tech service providers to join our partner network.
- Market Entry Strategy: Define the roadmap for geographical expansion across Colombia’s key crop regions (Grains, Sugar Cane, Palm Oil, and Rice).
- B2B Negotiations: Conduct high-level negotiations with business owners to establish contract terms, targets, and incentive structures.
- On-boarding & Training: Lead the initial setup of new dealers, including sales training and ensuring they understand the technical advantages of our auto-steer systems.
- Lead Generation: Generate interest through field visits, cold calling, and attending local ag-fairs (e.g., Agroexpo).
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for new dealers, helping them close their first few sales to end-user farmers.
- The "Hunter" Profile: At least 5 years of sales experience, with a proven track record of opening new markets or building dealer networks in Colombia.
- Local Ag-Network: Strong existing connections with agricultural machinery dealers or large farming cooperatives is highly preferred.
- Technical Understanding: Ability to explain the ROI of Precision Agriculture (GPS, RTK, and Automated Steering) to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Remote Independence: Ability to work autonomously from home while maintaining high activity levels and detailed CRM reporting.
- Language: Professional English (for reporting to HQ) and Native Spanish (for local business).
- Education: Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or Business Administration.
