AI Application Engineer (Hybrid- 3 Days/Week On-Site)

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities required.
• Master’s degree preferred but not required (MBA, MSIS, or related).

Job Responsibilities

Solution Engineering and Technical Delivery

• Design, build, test, publish, and maintain Microsoft 365 Copilot declarative agents, Copilot Studio agents, and related Power Platform components.
• Create and manage Azure AI Foundry projects, agents, model deployments, prompts, datasets, evaluations, and related resources.
• Recommend and implement the appropriate role for each use case, including Copilot-native, Foundry-based, retrieval-augmented, or integrated enterprise solutions.
• Integrate solutions with Microsoft Graph, APIs, Dataverse, SharePoint, connectors, approved Azure services, custom connectors, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, or MCP servers when appropriate.
• Build retrieval, knowledge-grounding, and governed data integrations using authoritative sources, approved enterprise data products, and appropriate access controls.

Requirements, Prototyping, and Delivery

• Participate in AI use-case intake, technical feasibility review, risk and complexity assessment, and solution categorization to help determine whether work is citizen-led, IT-supported, release-gated, or IT-led.· Collaborate with the Enterprise AI Solutions Architect to translate architectural guidance into detailed implementation plans.
• Partner with product owners, process owners, analysts, and subject-matter experts to define user stories, acceptance criteria, data requirements, and measurable outcomes.
• Rapidly prototype AI-enabled workflows, validate feasibility and value with users, and evolve successful prototypes into supported production applications.
• Estimate work, communicate risks and dependencies, and produce clear implementation documentation.
• Confirm business ownership, success measures, validation expectations, and support responsibilities before promoting prototypes or pilots to production.

Quality, Operations, and Production Support

• Package Power Platform and Copilot Studio components in solutions and promote them through development, test, and production environments using established application lifecycle management practices.
• Use source control, pipelines, automated tests, and release evidence, so production releases are repeatable and auditable, scaled to the complexity and risk of each solution.
• Monitor usage, quality, and cost in production. Investigate incidents and improve solutions based on telemetry and user feedback.
• Maintain test cases and automated checks that catch regressions in quality, safety, and reliability before they reach production.
• Build in human review and escalation paths for decisions that should stay with an authorized business owner rather than the AI.
• Implement the governance, security, and data protection standards defined by the Enterprise AI Solutions Architect and organizational policy.
• Collaborate with the Enterprise AI Solutions Architect, Cybersecurity, and platform teams to validate that solutions meet approval criteria before production release.

Enablement, Collaboration, and Reuse

• Support citizen developers within approved guardrails and escalate complex builds or architectural questions to the Enterprise AI Solutions Architect when needed.
• Take ownership of approved prototypes and community-built solutions when assigned, keeping ownership and support responsibilities clear.
• Build reusable agent templates, implementation patterns, and coding standards that accelerate future AI projects.
• Contribute to training materials, demonstration scripts, and technical guidance that support the broader AI enablement program.
• Demonstrate completed solutions and hand off documentation and guidance to makers and support teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Skills Needed

• Ability to translate business requirements into practical AI-enabled workflows and applications using Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Azure AI Foundry.
• Understanding of business processes and the ability to identify opportunities where automation, AI, or workflow redesign can improve efficiency, quality, or user experience.
• Understanding of how AI capabilities, automation, enterprise data, system integrations, and agent-to-tool patterns such as MCP can be applied to improve business processes and user experiences.
• Ability to deliver reliable solutions through structured testing, change management, deployment, support, and practical use of tools such as Python, SQL, APIs, and automation scripts.
• Understanding of data governance, privacy, security, responsible AI, human oversight, and governed enterprise data use.
• Ability to work effectively with business users, process owners, analysts, makers, and technical teams to move ideas from concept to production.
• Willingness to learn emerging technologies and identify practical opportunities to improve business outcomes.

• Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to access all areas of operation.
