## About Surface Labs
Surface Labs is an applied AI lab building AI-native infrastructure for B2B go-to-market teams. We operate two products today:
* **Lead Operations Center** — unifies lead capture, qualification, routing, follow-ups, and long-term nurture so marketers spend 80% less time on manual ops and more time converting leads into revenue.
* **Content Operations Center** — AEO/GEO monitoring, AI search visibility tracking, and AI-powered content pipelines that help B2B brands dominate ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot results.
We're live in production with Surface AI agents processing 50K+ leads monthly, are backed by YC/Garry Tan and Dharmesh Shah (co-founder of HubSpot), and just doubled our team size in the last 2 months across Engineering, Design, and GTM.
### The Role
You'll write blogs for Surface Labs. That's it. No code, no meetings, no BS.
Every blog you write that we publish on our website = you get paid. The better the blog performs — AEO visibility, traffic, pipeline influenced — the more you get paid.
You'll learn how modern AI-search content works in real time — what gets cited by AI engines, what doesn't, and how to write for a world where Google is dying. By the end of the internship, you'll be one of maybe 500 people on Earth who actually know how to write AEO content that ranks.
### What You'll Actually Do
* Write 5-10 blog posts per week for [withsurface.com](http://withsurface.com) on topics we assign (B2B marketing, lead ops, AEO, AI-native GTM)
* Use our 5-change AEO formula to optimize every blog for AI search visibility
* Track how your blogs perform across our PromptWatch system (147 monitored prompts across ChatGPT/Gemini/Perplexity/Copilot)
* Iterate based on what ranks and what doesn't
**No code. No engineering. Just sharp writing + AEO discipline.**
### Who You Are
* Based in the US (SF Bay Area preferred) or India (any city)
* Can write clear, punchy English (B2B or consumer, both work — show us samples)
* Curious about AEO/GEO and where search is headed (or hungry to learn)
* Can take a topic and turn it into a 1,500-word blog in a day
* Meets deadlines, takes feedback fast, doesn't need hand-holding
* Students, recent grads, career switchers, freelance writers — all welcome
Bonus: You've already published blogs somewhere, built a newsletter, run SEO, or written on LinkedIn/Medium/Substack.
### Comp
Simple. Performance-based. Uncapped.
**US-based writers:** $200–$500 per blog published on [withsurface.com](http://withsurface.com) Rate depends on quality, length, and AEO performance. Top writers shipping 5-10 blogs/week earn **$140K–$220K/year**.
**India-based writers:** ₹3,000–₹15,000 per blog published on [withsurface.com](http://withsurface.com) Rate depends on quality, length, and AEO performance. Top writers shipping 3–4 blogs/week earn **₹140K–₹190K/month**.
Strong writers convert to full-time Content roles with equity (0.01%–0.1%) at the end of the 3-month internship.

### How to Apply

Good applications get a reply within 48 hours.
### Interview Timeline (2 weeks, end-to-end)
**Day 1–2:** You apply in Discord \

**Day 3–4:** We review + reply in Discord. If it's a yes, we assign you the paid trial. \
\
**Day 5–10:** **Paid Trial Blog** — we assign you a topic, you write a 1,500-word AEO-optimized blog in 5 days. You get paid the base rate ($200 US / ₹3,000 India) whether we hire you or not. \

**Day 11–14:** **Final Conversation (30 min)** on Discord voice — we review your trial blog, discuss ongoing volume, confirm rates. Offer out same day if it's a yes.
