AI Developer

Position Summary

We are seeking an AI Developer to design, build, test, and maintain artificial intelligence solutions that address business and user needs. In this role, you will work with product, data, engineering, and business teams to develop and integrate AI capabilities, from machine learning models and generative AI applications to supporting services and APIs. The ideal candidate combines strong software development skills with practical knowledge of AI technologies, data, and responsible AI principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AI-powered applications, features, services, and integrations

• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical designs and AI solutions

• Develop and integrate machine learning and generative AI capabilities into software products and business workflows

• Prepare, process, and analyse data for AI development, working with data teams to address quality and availability issues

• Build and maintain APIs, services, and application components that support AI features and integrations

• Evaluate AI models and applications for accuracy, reliability, performance, usability, and alignment with requirements

• Develop and run tests, resolve defects, and improve the quality, security, and maintainability of AI solutions

• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, product teams, and subject matter experts throughout the development lifecycle

• Use version control, code review, and development practices to support reliable and collaborative delivery

• Support the deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of AI applications in development, test, and production environments

• Monitor AI solutions for performance, quality, drift, and unexpected outputs, and help investigate and resolve issues

• Apply responsible AI, privacy, security, and data governance requirements throughout the development process

• Document technical designs, APIs, model behaviour, testing approaches, and operational procedures

• Keep up to date with AI development tools, frameworks, and practices, and recommend improvements where appropriate

Required Qualifications

• Experience developing software applications, AI solutions, machine learning systems, or related technology

• Proficiency in at least one programming language used for AI development, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#

• Understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, testing, and debugging

• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and the processes used to develop, evaluate, and deploy models

• Experience working with data formats, databases, and APIs to build or integrate software applications

• Ability to assess technical requirements and translate them into practical, maintainable solutions

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills

• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders

• Understanding of software testing, version control, and collaborative development practices

• Awareness of responsible AI considerations, including privacy, fairness, transparency, and reliability

• Ability to manage tasks and priorities while contributing to delivery schedules and team objectives

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing generative AI applications using large language models (LLMs)

• Familiarity with AI and machine learning frameworks, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn

• Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, or vector databases

• Experience deploying or operating AI applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud

• Familiarity with containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, and MLOps or model lifecycle practices

• Experience monitoring AI applications and evaluating model quality, performance, or output safety

• Knowledge of data protection, information security, or AI governance requirements

• Experience working in an Agile development environment

• Relevant degree, professional training, or certification in computer science, software engineering, AI, machine learning, or a related field
