Show job description

We are looking for a Product Owner to lead the ongoing development and adoption of the Analytics Marketplace, creating a trusted and easy-to-use front door to data, insight, metrics and analytical products across the Society.

This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will own the product vision, strategy and roadmap, ensuring the Marketplace solves priority colleague and customer needs and delivers measurable value. You will bring together business, data, technology, governance and user experience perspectives, making clear choices about outcomes, sequencing and investment.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our Swindon, London or Glasgow office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

Whilst these locations are where we are primarily looking to fill the role, if you’re an internal applicant based in a different location, we would welcome your application and, if successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this could work for this specific role.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.

If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.

What you’ll be doing

Owning, communicating and continually developing the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the Analytics Marketplace is central to this role. You will turn customer, colleague and business needs into clear product outcomes, propositions, features and prioritised backlog items, creating and maintaining a transparent roadmap that balances strategic ambition, user value, risk, dependencies, technical sustainability and delivery capacity.

As the accountable product decision-maker, you will set priorities and make evidence-based trade-offs across discovery, build, launch and continuous improvement activities. Working closely with colleagues across BI, analytics, data engineering, platform, architecture, governance, risk and design, you will ensure the delivery of an integrated and effective product experience. You will also lead user discovery, feedback and usability activities to better understand pain points, validate opportunities and refine the product proposition.

The role requires defining product measures and using adoption, engagement, satisfaction, quality and value indicators to assess performance and inform decision-making. You will ensure Marketplace content is trusted, governed and easy to find, supported by clear ownership, definitions and lifecycle controls.

You will drive product adoption through stakeholder engagement, communications, demonstrations, onboarding activities and the development of an active user and contributor community. Responsibility for the product operating rhythm will include roadmap reviews, backlog prioritisation, dependency management, progress reporting and product governance.

A key aspect of the role is championing a product-led culture focused on outcomes, rapid learning, reuse and continuous improvement, ensuring that success is measured not only by the delivery of features but by the value and impact delivered to users and the wider business.

About you

You are an experienced product professional who can set direction and turn a broad ambition into a focused, deliverable roadmap. You combine customer empathy, commercial and strategic thinking, data literacy and strong delivery judgement. You are comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, challenging constructively and making decisions where priorities compete.

As a minimum, you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience defining product strategy, roadmaps and priorities, and translating these into deliverable backlogs
  • Significant experience leading stakeholder engagement, user discovery and requirements definition to inform product decisions
  • Proven ability to make evidence-based prioritisation and investment decisions, balancing value, risk and delivery constraints
  • Experience defining product measures and using data, insights and performance metrics to drive product improvement and investment decisions
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, with experience gaining alignment across senior business, data and technology stakeholders
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary agile teams and managing dependencies in complex delivery environments
  • Good understanding of data, analytics, business intelligence and governance principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity and take end-to-end accountability for product delivery
  • Proven experience owning and delivering a digital, data, analytics or technology product, with accountability for product outcomes and benefits realisation
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager or equivalent product leadership role

• Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
• Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
• Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
