About the role

A fast-moving organisation is seeking a strong generalist to build and operationalise AI-powered systems over an intensive delivery window. This is a builder-and-operator role, not a pure development seat. The successful candidate will design systems, ship them, and own them through the reality of getting real teams to adopt and use them.

Several critical processes currently run on WhatsApp, social media and spreadsheets. The role is to turn these into proper tooling with tracking, traceability and accountability, then stay close enough to fix what breaks.

Key responsibilities

• Build a layered coordination and progress-tracking system to replace a WhatsApp-and-spreadsheet workflow, with chase lists, traceability and status reporting across hundreds of local units.
• Develop a WhatsApp-based sentiment analysis tool that ingests group conversations and synthesises sentiment and key-issue reports.
• Create an integrity-checking tool allowing field teams to photograph summary documents and automatically flag inconsistencies.
• Build a CRM for structured intake, outreach and coordination of inbound volunteers.
• Operationalise each tool with non-technical teams and own the problems that arise post-launch.

About you

• A generalist who ships. Able to go from a vague problem to a working system without waiting for a detailed spec.
• Fluent with Claude and comfortable building AI-powered workflows and tools.
• Equally effective writing code and coaching a non-technical team to adopt what you've built.
• Calm under pressure and willing to own problems end to end.
• Johannesburg-based preferred, given hybrid setup and office days in Bruma.

Nice to have

• Experience with WhatsApp Business API or similar messaging integrations.
• Prior experience operationalising tools with non-technical teams in the field.
• Comfort with lightweight data tooling and rapid iteration.
