Make an impact. Be human. Stay curious.

Who we are

AI is transforming the world – and we’re just getting started. With data growing exponentially, the need for smart, impact-driven minds has never been greater. At Rewire, we don’t just follow trends in data & AI – we shape them.

We're on a mission to scale Rewire's impact and our collective knowledge is one of our greatest assets. That's why we're looking for an AI & Knowledge Engineering Intern to make it accessible to everyone in our team. With close guidance from our knowledge engineering team, you'll help revolutionize our intelligent knowledge/expertise system (ideally agentic) to support various workflows (R&D, Commercial, ...).

In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of an AI solution, apply structured thinking, and contribute fresh ideas to a project that drives effectiveness and efficiency across the company.

This is a chance to take ownership, develop your technical and analytical skill set, and see firsthand how a fast-growing data & AI company puts AI to work for its own teams.

Be part of a dynamic team of data & AI talents who tackle meaningful challenges and have fun along the way. Wanna join the ride?

Where you’ll make a difference

  • Get hands-on across the full solution lifecycle – exchange with stakeholders, map our existing knowledge landscape, and support design, execution and optimization

  • Build a knowledge graph – organize our expertise and knowledge into something that's searchable to both humans and agents

  • Create intelligent agents – develop and deploy agentic workflows to transform how we work

What makes us the right choice for you

  • Learn and grow your AI engineering capabilities – gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, building a real solution with knowledge graphs, LLMs, and agentic AI that drives business impact

  • Develop a technical and analytical skill set – learn and apply concepts like ontology design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent frameworks, evaluate solution performance, and turn insights into actionable improvements

  • Thrive in a culture that values initiative and curiosity – where your ideas are welcomed, your contributions matter, and you’re encouraged to take ownership from day one

  • Bridge theory and practice – bring your academic knowledge to life by working on real management challenges in the data & AI space

  • Receive hands-on coaching and mentorship – work closely with experienced professionals who provide continuous feedback and support your development

  • Collaborate with a dynamic, international team – join a group that’s ambitious, supportive, and passionate about what they do, with plenty of room for learning (and fun!) along the way

What makes you shine

You're naturally curious and proactive with a passion for building solutions that make an impact. You enjoy combining your interest in technology with structured thinking, and you're eager to turn ideas into action. You'll thrive with us if you bring:

  • A strong academic foundation – you're in your 2nd year or beyond of a Bachelor's or Master's program or have recently graduated in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

  • Technical foundation and attention to detail – you are interested in technology, LLMs, and generative AI, have some exposure to AWS, and ideally bring prior experience with Python from coursework, a thesis, or personal projects.

  • A hands-on, growth mindset – you take initiative, embrace challenges, and are eager to learn and develop continuously

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills – you’re comfortable collaborating and presenting your ideas clearly

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Where and how you’ll work

Our Heidelberg office will be your main base, where you’ll work alongside colleagues from different functions. We follow a hybrid working model, giving you the flexibility to split your time between the office and working from home.

This internship is available as either a mandatory internship required by your study program or as a voluntary internship (limited to a maximum of 3 months). It offers flexible working arrangements to fit around your schedule, with options for a full-time internship (1-2 months) or a part-time setup of up to 3 months.
