Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an AI Product Engineer. The position is based in WP. Kuala Lumpur, with flexibility for partial remote work. The AI Product Engineer will develop, test, and refine AI-powered product features, collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new solutions, conduct research to enhance product capabilities, and analyze performance metrics for continuous improvement. The role also requires effective communication to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll work on

- Design and build intelligent product experiences powered by modern LLM and generative AI capabilities

- Develop scalable services and APIs using Python, integrating LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex

- Build polished, responsive interfaces with React and TypeScript

- Deploy and operate AI services in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and on-premises infrastructure using Kubernetes and Docker

- Work with vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate) and design retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines

- Apply prompt engineering, model evaluation, and fine-tuning techniques to production use cases

- Collaborate across engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust AI solutions

What we're looking for

- 3+ years of overall engineering experience, with hands-on focus on AI/ML or LLM-based applications

- Strong proficiency in Python; solid experience with React and TypeScript for frontend work

- Practical experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex) and prompt engineering techniques

- Experience with vector databases and building RAG or semantic search pipelines

- Solid understanding of MLOps practices — CI/CD, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)

- **Proven experience deploying and operating LLM applications on-premises** (e.g. vLLM, Ollama, or equivalent inference stacks) — this is a core requirement

- Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or Google AI Platform)

- Product mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Comfortable working in a lean, agile startup environment where you wear multiple hats

Nice to have

- Experience in NLP, deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), or generative model architectures (GPT, BERT)

- Prior work in B2B SaaS, fintech, or enterprise AI in Southeast Asia

- LLMOps experience (e.g. LangSmith, Weights & Biases, MLflow)
