Nova Ecommerce Group is a strategy-first marketplace growth agency helping consumer brands scale profitably across Amazon and other leading ecommerce platforms.
We go beyond basic account management and advertising execution. Our team works closely with brand leaders to improve the entire marketplace P&L—from revenue growth and advertising efficiency to conversion, pricing, inventory, promotions, and contribution margin.
We are hiring an experienced Amazon Account Strategist to own the strategic direction and commercial performance of a portfolio of consumer brands.
The Role
The Amazon Account Strategist serves as the strategic partner for each assigned client. You will translate business objectives into actionable marketplace strategies, align Nova’s internal specialists around the highest-impact priorities, and ensure our work produces measurable improvements in revenue and profitability.
This is not a task-management or client-service-only role. You must be comfortable analyzing a digital marketplace P&L, diagnosing the factors affecting performance, making commercially sound recommendations, and communicating those recommendations confidently to founders and brand executives.
The ideal candidate understands how Amazon’s interconnected levers—including traffic, conversion, advertising, pricing, promotions, content, inventory, reviews, organic ranking, and operational health—affect the overall financial performance of a consumer brand.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccount Strategy and P&L Ownership
- Own the strategic direction and performance of a portfolio of Amazon accounts.
- Evaluate revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, TACOS, advertising spend, fees, promotions, returns, and other major P&L drivers.
- Build annual, quarterly, and monthly growth plans based on historical performance, category opportunity, seasonality, inventory, and profitability targets.
- Identify the root causes of performance gaps and prioritize the initiatives most likely to improve profitable growth.
- Develop SKU-level strategies based on demand, margin, lifecycle stage, competitive position, and inventory availability.
- Identify expansion opportunities involving new products, variations, bundles, marketplaces, and adjacent sales channels.
Performance Analysis
- Analyze account and category data to understand changes in traffic, conversion rate, average selling price, advertising efficiency, organic rank, market share, and profitability.
- Interpret Amazon data sources such as Business Reports, Search Query Performance, Brand Analytics, advertising reports, inventory reports, and category intelligence tools.
- Distinguish meaningful trends from normal volatility and translate data into clear business decisions.
- Monitor pacing against forecasts and recommend corrective action when an account is behind plan.
- Partner with advertising specialists to ensure PPC strategy supports the account’s broader commercial objectives.
- Review performance at the SKU, campaign, keyword, query, and portfolio levels without losing sight of the overall P&L.
Client Leadership
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor to brand founders and leaders.
- Lead recurring client meetings with a clear point of view on performance, risks, priorities, and next steps.
- Present complex marketplace data in concise, commercially relevant language.
- Set realistic expectations regarding growth, investment, inventory, profitability, and timing.
- Proactively identify risks before they become client-facing problems.
- Build trust through strong judgment, transparency, preparation, and consistent follow-through.
- Challenge client assumptions constructively when the data supports a different course of action.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Translate account strategy into clear priorities for Nova’s PPC, content, design, catalog, inventory, and operations specialists.
- Ensure internal execution remains aligned with the client’s financial goals and highest-impact opportunities.
- Create clear briefs, assign measurable outcomes, and maintain accountability for deliverables.
- Review work for strategic alignment and quality before it reaches the client.
- Help resolve competing priorities across advertising, inventory, creative, pricing, and promotions.
- Contribute frameworks, insights, and best practices that strengthen Nova’s broader account-management organization.
Required Experience
- Significant experience managing the digital marketplace P&L of consumer brands, whether at an ecommerce agency, as a consultant, or in a brand leadership role.
- Demonstrated responsibility for both revenue growth and profitability—not advertising metrics alone.
- Strong working knowledge of Amazon Seller Central and Amazon Ads.
- Experience developing and executing marketplace growth strategies for consumer products.
- Ability to analyze revenue, margin, advertising, conversion, inventory, pricing, and promotional data.
- Experience forecasting sales and translating forecasts into advertising, inventory, and operational plans.
- Proven ability to manage multiple brands or business units with different goals and commercial realities.
- Experience communicating directly with founders, executives, or senior brand stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort working with large, imperfect datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing Amazon accounts generating seven figures or more in annual marketplace revenue.
- Agency experience overseeing a portfolio of consumer brands.
- Familiarity with Amazon Brand Analytics, Search Query Performance, Sellerboard, Helium 10, Data Dive, SmartScout, or comparable analytics platforms.
- Experience with Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, or other ecommerce channels.
- Experience leading product launches, marketplace turnarounds, international expansion, or profitability-improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with contribution-margin modeling, inventory planning, and demand forecasting.
- Experience working with creative, catalog, advertising, and operations teams in a remote environment.
