The Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support research, planning, assessment, and evidence-based decision-making. This role maintains the data accessibility functions of the institution, coordinating semester and annual reports to aid in compliance with all accreditation agencies, as well as state and federal reporting
Responsibilities
- To maintain a campus-wide, undisputed database of pertinent internal and external data to support institutional decision-making.
- To collect and disseminate data to all educational and administrative/support services units of the institution for use in institutional effectiveness planning (IEP’s).
- To aid IEP unit coordinators in the development of educational goals/objectives, design and selection of appropriate assessment tools and criteria, and in the analysis and use of assessment results to improve programs.
- To aid college institutional effectiveness, long-range, and facilities planning
- To complete IPEDS and other external reports required for federal, state, and private funding agencies and accrediting groups.
- To complete internal reports for review by Executive Staff and President’s Cabinet, the administration, and the faculty as needed.
- To aid in arrangements for campus-wide review of all institutional effectiveness
- To assist in completion of accrediting and institutional self-study reports and follow-
- To stay abreast of trends in institutional research, planning, and accreditation and provide workshops and seminars to inform institutional constituents.

Relationships
The position requires daily contact with executive staff, faculty, staff, and students to compile and disseminate data to support institutional decision-making. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.
Responsibility for Final Decisions
Tasks require the development of techniques, formulation of concepts and procedures, direction and/or planning operations, and developing solutions to unique issues. Work involves developing, implementing, and interpreting policy. Problem resolution requires experimentation, innovation, and/or theory development.
Reports to VPAA
The Data Analyst is directly accountable for program/work unit results, where it is expected that the collection, compilation, and dissemination of data are performed accurately.
Education/Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Educational Research, Data Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Public Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience with data collection, analysis, and report writing in an office of institutional research at an institution of higher education.
- Experience extracting data from Enterprise Planning Systems (ERPs).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Informer, Power BI, Tableau) and knowledge of developing dashboards and reports.
