SCOPE:
The Analyst, Sales Strategy & Category Insights supports the Sales organization by turning category, shopper and business data into clear commercial insights and selling stories that help grow the Manitoba Harvest and HiBall brands. Reporting to the Director, Sales Strategy, this role supports consumption data analysis, recurring reporting and customer-facing materials while working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Innovation and broker partners. The position is designed for an early-career analyst seeking to build category and commercial expertise within a growing consumer packaged goods business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pull and analyze syndicated, retailer point-of-sale, distributor and internal data for the U.S. and Canada to identify category, consumer, shopper and sales trends, growth opportunities and business risks.
- Maintain data quality and consistency across recurring reports and translate analysis into clear, actionable takeaways for the Sales organization.
- Prepare monthly in-market performance updates and support account reviews across core, private label and innovation items, highlighting accounts that may require attention.
- Identify distribution gaps and competitive whitespace and support follow-up actions with broker partners.
- Support category deep dives as the portfolio enters new spaces by gathering data and developing analysis with guidance from senior team members.
- Act as a day-to-day user of data provider tools, completing data pulls and responding to routine requests with data providers.
- Build customized pitch decks, one-page account snapshots and assortment recommendations for retailer meetings, line reviews and new item presentations.
- Maintain master sales decks and messaging for Manitoba Harvest and HiBall.
- Prepare data and materials for retailer and broker meetings, trade shows and business reviews, and attend as required to support the team.
- Support the annual sales planning process by preparing data, analysis and account-level inputs.
- Support trade planning by tracking promotional performance and comparing budget, actual and prior-year results to help identify potential trade efficiencies.
- Support price changes by updating price lists and preparing market impact analysis for review.
- Provide data and analysis for the annual SKU rationalization process.
- Use AI and automation tools to help build and maintain recurring reports and dashboards that provide timely visibility into key sales performance metrics.
- Use generative AI to help draft selling stories, account snapshots and category summaries, validating outputs for accuracy, brand consistency and appropriate handling of confidential information.
- Prepare analyses of promotional lift, price impact and distribution opportunities while developing forecasting and scenario-analysis capabilities.
- Build and share reusable prompts and templates with the team in accordance with established requirements for data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Economics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of experience in sales strategy, category management, insights or commercial analytics, preferably within consumer packaged goods such as food, beverage or wellness.
- Working knowledge of SPINS, Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ or a similar platform, with an understanding of distribution, velocity, share, pricing and promotion metrics.
- Ability to translate data into clear and compelling presentations, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Comfort using generative AI and automation tools in day-to-day work, with sound judgement regarding accuracy, data privacy and confidentiality.
- Exposure to natural, organic, better-for-you or functional beverage categories across natural, conventional or direct-store-delivery channels is preferred.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau, retailer portals or low-code automation is preferred.
- Exposure to broker relationships, trade promotion analysis or innovation launches is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Remote home-office environment in the U.S. or Canada.
- Approximately 15% travel.
- Significant computer work and extended periods of mental concentration.
- Regular interaction with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Innovation, broker partners, data providers and management.
Compensation: The expected annual base salary range for this role is between $55,000 and $70,000. Please note that the actual offer will be determined based on your skills, experience, education, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
