Job Purpose

Welldoc's Reporting and Visualization team is looking for an Analytics Engineer to help lead the design and buildout of our analytics data model, with a sharp focus on creating a strong, reusable consumption layer. This person will act as a thought leader on the team — translating stakeholder needs into concrete technical requirements, evaluating our current data structures, and shaping how both BI tools and AI-driven applications consume our data. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable operating without highly prescriptive direction, and enjoys shaping strategy as much as executing on it.

Resposibilities

• Serve as a thought leader in the planning and execution of our new data model, with a primary focus on building a strong, scalable consumption layer.
• Partner with data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into clear technical requirements for the consumption layer and downstream analyses.
• Proactively identify and recommend analytics engineering work needed to support reporting, visualization, and AI use cases across the business.
• Evaluate our current data structures and models, and recommend changes to improve scalability, usability, and performance.
• Design, build, and maintain the consumption layer and underlying data transformations that power self-service reporting, BI tools, and AI applications.
• Leverage software engineering best practices to optimize performance of our data pipelines and automate analytics workflows.
• Help evaluate additional tools and technologies for fit within our evolving data and analytics tech stack.
• Support company-wide efforts to improve data quality, accessibility, and governance, including implementing data quality checks and monitoring to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
• Contribute to the improvement of data team best practices, workflows, and documentation to ensure we are building a sustainable and scalable data function.
• Troubleshoot data issues and clearly communicate root causes and resolutions to internal stakeholders.
• Optimize the performance and scalability of data infrastructure to support growing data volumes and evolving business needs.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years demonstrated experience designing and building data models and transformation pipelines for analytics use cases.
• At least 3 years hands-on knowledge of Databricks is required, including experience building consumption layers used by both AI tools and BI/reporting tools.
• Strong ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls in ambiguous, fast-moving situations without needing detailed direction.
• A track record of translating business and stakeholder needs into well-scoped technical requirements.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals applied to data workflows (version control, testing, modular design, automation).
• Experience evaluating data architecture and recommending structural improvements.
• Comfort evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies as the data stack evolves.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across data engineering, analytics, and business teams.
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset — someone who identifies problems and opportunities before being asked.

Welldoc operates in ISO 13485 and MDSAP regulated and HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II compliant environments. Therefore, it is expected that all employees will have either prior experience working in those environments or will be trained to understand the requirements needed to work and support those requirements and culture as they relate to individual roles and responsibilities.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Business Analytics is preferred. A Masters Degree in a relevant field may substitute for some required experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Welldoc offers a competitive compensation package which, in addition to salary, includes generous PTO, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision care, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits. and the opportunity to participate in health savings accounts and/or dependent care accounts. While the anticipated salary range for this position is between $110,000 - $130,000/year with the expectation that most candidates will fall around the midpoint of the range. Exceptional candidates may exceed the range if education and experience warrant.

Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, you may be required to complete and clear a multi-panel drug screening process.
