An exciting opportunity for an experienced Android engineer to take technical ownership within a large, multi-team mobile app. This is a hands-on leadership contract where you’ll tackle the most complex, high-impact challenges in the codebase and help shape how the team builds and ships.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning ambiguous, high-risk initiatives from problem definition through to production release
• Setting technical direction for your area, authoring solution designs and decision records backed by data
• Driving app-wide stability, performance and app-health improvements across modules and teams
• Working across the full Kotlin/Compose stack: UI, state, data, networking, SDKs and build
• Debugging and resolving the root causes of the hardest crashes, ANRs and regressions
• Leading design reviews and raising the bar on testing, monitoring and release practice
• Partnering with PM, EM and stakeholders to clarify scope, trade-offs and risk
• Mentoring senior engineers so knowledge and decisions remain after the contract ends
• Presenting and demoing work to technical and non-technical audiences

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years in Android, with expert Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, coroutines/Flow and multi-module architecture at scale
• A track record of leading architecture in a large, multi-team app with staged rollouts and crash/ANR ownership
• The ability to get productive in a large codebase within two weeks and act as the technical tie-breaker
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles and clean coding practices
• Clear written and spoken English, comfortable with technical and non-technical stakeholders
