Android Developer (Sweden)

About the Role

For our client, we are looking for an experienced Android Developer to join a telecommunications project for an end customer in Sweden.

This is a remote B2B contract role focused on developing and maintaining Android applications in a professional engineering environment. You will work with Kotlin and Java, integrate mobile applications with backend services through RESTful APIs, and contribute to reliable, maintainable mobile solutions.

You will collaborate with distributed engineering teams, participate in Agile delivery processes, and take ownership of debugging, code quality, and technical implementation.

The role is suitable for candidates based in the EU with EU nationality. Occasional travel to the client's office in Sweden may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Build reliable, maintainable, and well-structured mobile application components.
• Work extensively with the Android SDK and established Android development practices.
• Integrate Android applications with backend services using RESTful APIs.
• Implement and maintain application data flows and local persistence where required.
• Work with SQL databases as part of mobile application functionality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application issues.
• Identify and address performance, stability, and usability problems.
• Write clean and maintainable code aligned with software engineering standards.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Use Git and established version-control workflows.
• Collaborate with backend developers, QA engineers, product stakeholders, and other mobile developers.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning, estimation, and iterative delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and engineering quality.
• Support application testing, release preparation, and production issue resolution.

Essential Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional Android development experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with the Android SDK.
• Strong Kotlin programming skills.
• Strong Java programming skills.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs.
• Proficient understanding of Git and code versioning workflows.
• Practical experience working with SQL databases.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and development practices.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within distributed engineering teams.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
• EU nationality and ability to work from within the EU.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Sweden when required.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience developing and maintaining large-scale or business-critical Android applications.
• Familiarity with modern Android application architecture and modular application design.
• Experience with automated testing for Android applications.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
• Understanding of mobile application performance optimisation and reliability practices.
• Experience collaborating closely with backend and QA teams.
• Previous experience working in telecommunications or similarly complex technical environments.

What We Offer

• Project / Industry: Telecommunications project for an end customer in Sweden.
• Location: Remote within the EU, with occasional visits to Sweden.
• Contract Type: B2B contractor.
• Compensation: €40–45/hour.
• Start Date: Preferred start between the end of September and October.
• Work Model: Remote.
• Contract Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
