The Subscriptions R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Our team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them, at the right time. With research, product development, product design, engineering, and marketing all collaborating in one organization, we’re able to quickly create meaningful features and services for millions of people around the world, resulting in joyful, long-lasting relationships with Spotify. What You'll Do Design, build, and evolve mobile experiences across some of Spotify’s most visible consumer surfaces. Contribute to the architecture and development of reusable mobile foundations, frameworks, and platform capabilities. Support and develop technical initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer experience across the Spotify app. Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and platform teams to shape product direction and technical strategy. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and drive quality through testing practices, observability, and operational excellence. Participate in experimentation and prototyping efforts tied to future-facing content and listening experiences. Explore modern engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development tools and emerging mobile technologies. Balance short-term product needs with long-term platform sustainability and technical health. Learn, grow, and contribute to Spotify's engineering culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and curiosity. Who You Are You have experience developing Android applications using Kotlin. You are aware of how to build maintainable, scalable, reusable and well-tested software systems. You have experience collaborating with engineers and colleagues across disciplines. You care about code quality, testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability. You demonstrate curiosity, ownership, and a willingness to step outside your immediate area of expertise when needed. You are curious about using modern development tooling, including AI-assisted coding solutions. You bring a growth mindset and continuously look for opportunities to learn, improve systems, products, and team practices. You might have familiarity with SQL, analytics systems, or data engineering concepts. Where You'll Be We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the EMEA region as long as we have a work location (excluding France due to on-call restrictions). This team operates within the Central European and GMT time zone for collaboration. Spotify is an equal opportunity employer. You are welcome at Spotify for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or what’s playing in your headphones. Our platform is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be forward-thinking! So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our differences that we will find the power to keep revolutionizing the way the world listens. At Spotify, we are passionate about inclusivity and making sure our entire recruitment process is accessible to everyone. We have ways to request reasonable accommodations during the interview process and help assist in what you need. If you need accommodations at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know - we’re here to support you in any way we can.
