KYC / AML Analyst
The opportunity
We are looking for a KYC / AML Analyst to strengthen a compliance team within the financial services sector. The role combines client due diligence, AML investigations and screening activities, with regular interaction with business stakeholders and internal compliance functions.
The position is particularly suited to someone who is comfortable working in a regulated environment, handling sensitive information and making well-documented risk-based assessments.
Your responsibilities
Client due diligence
You will be involved in the review and maintenance of client files throughout the customer lifecycle. Your activities will include:
- Supporting commercial and onboarding teams with KYC-related questions.
- Reviewing new client files and periodic reviews, with particular attention to higher-risk relationships.
- Assessing whether documentation and information meet the applicable onboarding requirements.
- Performing enhanced due diligence where the risk profile requires additional investigation.
- Gathering supplementary information from internal stakeholders and relevant banking contacts.
- Identifying inconsistencies, missing information or other risk indicators and determining the appropriate follow-up.
- Providing recommendations to the relevant business or management stakeholders regarding the continuation or approval of a client relationship.
- Escalating potential money-laundering concerns to the appropriate AML function in accordance with internal procedures.
AML monitoring & investigations
The position also covers the analysis and handling of AML-related alerts.
You will:
- Support business teams in the initial handling of transaction-monitoring alerts.
- Review cases referred for second-level analysis.
- Investigate customer activity and obtain additional information or documentation when required.
- Work with internal banking contacts to clarify transactional activity and customer information.
- Determine the appropriate next steps based on the outcome of an investigation, such as closing an alert, initiating a client review or recommending an exit from the relationship.
- Escalate potentially suspicious activity to the AML Compliance Officer when appropriate.
PEP & sanctions screening
You will contribute to the management of alerts generated by PEP and sanctions screening processes.
This includes:
- Supporting first-level users in the interpretation and handling of screening alerts.
- Performing second-level reviews and additional checks.
- Collecting further information when an alert cannot be resolved based on the available data.
- Assessing the implications of screening results and advising stakeholders on the appropriate follow-up.
- Escalating potential sanctions matches promptly to the responsible compliance function.
Compliance & risk
Beyond case handling, you will contribute to the broader compliance framework by:
- Helping improve and maintain operational procedures and documentation.
- Providing clear and reliable information for internal and regulatory reporting.
- Contributing to risk assessments and identifying developments that may affect the organisation's risk exposure.
- Raising awareness of emerging compliance or AML-related risks within the relevant teams.
What we're looking for
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in KYC, AML, compliance, financial crime or a comparable function.
- Previous experience in a regulated financial-services environment is an advantage.
- A genuine interest in financial services, banking products and compliance matters.
- Exposure to payment solutions is considered a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in finance, economics, law, business or a related discipline.
Technical skills
- Good command of MS Office.
- Comfortable working with different IT systems and digital tools.
- Experience with Salesforce is an advantage.
Languages
- Dutch: strong professional communication skills.
- French: strong professional communication skills.
- English: very good command, both written and spoken.
Personal qualities
We are looking for someone who is:
- Clear and professional in communication.
- Comfortable interacting with both business and compliance stakeholders.
- Able to work autonomously and organise priorities effectively.
- Detail-oriented, rigorous and quality-conscious.
- Solution-oriented when dealing with complex or incomplete information.
- Adaptable and able to remain effective in a fast-moving environment.
- Diplomatic and customer-oriented while maintaining the necessary compliance standards.
Working arrangement
The position combines office-based and remote work, with an expected split of approximately 50% on-site and 50% remote.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to work across several key areas of financial crime prevention, including KYC, AML investigations, PEP and sanctions screening, while interacting with both business and compliance stakeholders.
