, Singapore Job Family Group: Corporate Relations Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: August 5, 2026 Business Unit: CoS and Corporate Relations Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: About the role As the APAC M edia R elations S pokesperson , you will play a dual role as a spokesperson and a regional coordinator. You will need to display a clear understanding of Shell's strategy and an ability to communicate it in a coherent way across print, broadcast, online and social media, and work to mitigate the reach and impact of inaccurate stories. You will work closely with country media relations leads within the APAC region, and act as a focal point to help ensure they respond on behalf of Shell consistently, and are proactively communicating company content and messages. Where you fit in Reporting to the head of media relations APAC, the APAC media relations spokesperson is a support for heads of media relations in countries in the APAC region and a bridge to the Group External Communications and Campaigns team. Together, the regional and Group media relations teams act as one, managing relationships with major domestic and international print, online, social and broadcast media and driving consistency of Shell message. Key Responsibilities : You will be accountable for helping to drive the consistency of media relations in the region, with focus on English language outlets. You will also support with media relations work in Australia as required . More specifically, your role will include: Build and strengthen relationships with senior journalists from international news wires and influential trade publications based in Singapore, to provide trusted insight and context for Shell’s strategy and key activities. Engagement with international media on projects, activities and developing/emerging issues (including crisis situations) across APAC and issues above country level. Supporting on Australia-specific media relations work as required , including leave cover and support on major projects, announcements, issues and activities. Leverage senior leader visits to countries in the region and drive consistency of briefings and alignment with group story, identify opportunities with country Corporate Relations teams to maximise benefit and cut-through of activities such as media briefings, events and site visits within the region. Acting on own initiative when representing the Group’s policies and actions to media, and in determining appropriate tone and level of response. Filtering incoming requests from international media for interviews/engagement with business leaders across the region and advising the in-country media leads. Drive proactive activity where needed to support Shell’s business strategy. Implementing the strategy, policy and standards guidelines process to drive consistency of media relations work across APAC. Connect country Corporate Relations teams with Group standards, guidelines, strategy, and best practices to drive consistency in media relations and messaging across APAC, including: Acting as a sounding board for media relations advice and coordination across the region. Supporting a regional community of practice. Disseminating Group messaging and holding statements. Acting as the regional approver, where required. Coordinate with Group team to monitor and measure cut through of Shell messaging in proactive storytelling and to keep track of momentum with issues, to inform action, including use of data and analytics. Disclosure assistance for country leads as needed. What we need from you : A hunger for and insight into news is essential. You should have a strong interest in the external media landscape and the interaction of traditional, social and broadcast media outlets. You should be keen to get out and about to engage with journalists. You have a learner mindset and are always willing to learn from mistakes and successes. You are someone who integrates and collaborates across boundaries to maximise commercial value for Shell as a whole. When it comes to a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, you are resilient and can thrive in these situations. You’ll ideally have extensive media relations experience, preferably within a multinational organisation . Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible: Strong experience working in a corporate communications team, within a complex organisation either in the public or private sector. Demonstrate and deploy good judgment and creativity. An ability to identify compelling stories and have an external focus. Extensive experience working with senior business leaders, providing strategic support and guidance, developing trusted partnerships to support business outcomes. Strong writing skills and proven track record in the development of creative, engaging content. Use of data and insights to inform strategy and tactics.
