API developer

Role Description The API Developer will design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable APIs that integrate internal and external systems for EgoTECHworld and its clients. In this full-time remote role, the developer will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other backend developers to translate business requirements into well-structured API endpoints and data models. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean and efficient code, implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, optimizing API performance, and ensuring robust error handling and logging. The API Developer will also create technical documentation, participate in code reviews, support testing and debugging activities, and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and standards.
Qualifications

• Strong skills in backend programming languages and frameworks commonly used for API development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar).
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, including versioning, pagination, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and integration with APIs.
• Understanding of API security best practices, such as authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and related services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) for deploying and managing API-based applications.
• Experience working with API documentation tools and specifications (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman collections) to support consumers of the APIs.
• Proficiency with version control systems and collaborative workflows (e.g., Git, pull requests, code reviews).
• Ability to debug complex issues, monitor API performance, and use logging/observability tools to maintain reliability.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote environment, and willingness to collaborate in a diverse, cross-functional team.
• Previous experience in a similar API or backend development role and exposure to agile methodologies is beneficial.
