API tester

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for an API Tester at EgoTECHworld. The API Tester will design, create, and execute test cases for REST and other APIs to ensure functionality, performance, reliability, and security. Day-to-day tasks include validating request and response formats, checking error handling, performing regression testing, documenting test results, and reporting defects to development teams. The role involves working closely with engineers and product stakeholders to clarify requirements, reproduce issues, and contribute to improving test coverage and quality standards. The API Tester will also help refine testing processes and support automation efforts where appropriate.
Qualifications

• API testing skills, including designing test cases, validating endpoints, and verifying request/response payloads
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Insomnia, SoapUI, or similar)
• Strong understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, JSON/XML formats, and error handling
• Ability to document test plans, test cases, and clear defect reports
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, or similar) is a plus
• Experience working with version control systems such as Git and collaborating in agile or iterative development environments
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and reproduce complex issues
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setup
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
• Prior experience in software quality assurance or testing roles, preferably involving APIs or backend services
