Miami Technology Solutions is seeking an Appian QA Tester with test automation experience who can also support database migration and data integration activities. This position will perform functional, regression, integration, and automated testing of Appian applications while helping ensure that migrated and integrated data is complete, accurate, and usable.
The successful candidate will work with Appian developers, database and integration engineers, business analysts, and project stakeholders supporting federal application modernization. The position requires hands-on Appian testing experience, the ability to maintain automated regression coverage, working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, and the judgment to investigate failures across application, data, automation, and environment layers.
Responsibilities
Appian Quality Assurance
• Develop and execute functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end tests for Appian applications.
• Validate Appian interfaces, records, process models, business rules, reports, integrations, plugins, and custom components.
• Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into detailed test cases and traceable test evidence.
• Create and manage test data across development, testing, staging, migration, and production-support environments.
• Document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution and retesting.
• Support formal testing, user acceptance testing, and release-readiness decisions.
Test Automation
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated regression and integration test suites for Appian applications.
• Analyze failed automated tests and distinguish application defects from test-script, data, pipeline, and environmental issues.
• Stabilize unreliable tests and improve the consistency and maintainability of automated execution.
• Integrate automated testing into Jenkins or comparable continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Maintain automation code through Git or GitHub source-control workflows.
• Support containerized test execution using Docker or comparable technologies.
• Connect automated test results with Jira, Xray, or comparable test-management tools.
Data Migration and Integration Support
• Review source-to-target mappings, data-transformation requirements, interface specifications, and business rules with technical and functional team members.
• Develop and execute SQL queries that validate source and target data.
• Compare record counts, field values, relationships, statuses, dates, and calculated values before and after migration or integration processing.
• Validate data completeness, accuracy, uniqueness, referential integrity, and compliance with business rules.
• Support mock migrations, cutover activities, rollback testing, and post-migration validation.
• Verify that Appian reports, interfaces, records, and integrations function correctly with migrated and integrated data.
Collaboration and Reporting
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning, quality reviews, and retrospectives.
• Provide clear status updates on test execution, automation health, migration results, defects, dependencies, and risks.
• Help define quality gates and exit criteria for application releases and migration events.
• Produce test summaries, reconciliation reports, defect metrics, and release-readiness documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
• Minimum two years of professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or test engineering.
• Hands-on experience testing Appian applications or comparable low-code enterprise platforms.
• Experience executing functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience developing or maintaining automated testing frameworks.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience testing system integrations, database conversions, data migrations, or data-intensive applications.
• Ability to interpret source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience managing defects and test execution through Jira, Xray, or comparable tools.
• Familiarity with continuous integration pipelines and Git or GitHub workflows.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Four or more years of experience in software quality assurance, automated testing, or test engineering.
• Appian testing experience involving records, process models, interfaces, integrations, plugins, and custom components.
• Experience with FitNesse for Appian or another Appian test-automation tool.
• Experience with Ruby, JRuby, Java, Python, or a comparable automation language.
• Experience creating automated SQL-based reconciliation or data-quality tests.
• Experience supporting migration rehearsals, production cutovers, rollback testing, and post-deployment validation.
• Experience with Jenkins, Docker, RubyMine, AWS-hosted environments, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with federal system testing, documentation, security, and release-management requirements.
