Application Engineer I

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Demonstrate technical competence in electrical design principles through both theoretical knowledge and practical application Craft solutions that meet customer needs using Appleton’s engineered product portfolio Read and interpret schematics, elevation drawings, technical drawings and datasheets Develop, review and approve technical drawings and documentation packages Perform simple to intermediate electrical calculations, simulations, and risk assessments Serve as the technical expert to support our cross-function teams: sales, marketing, and operations Ensure projects and builds are in compliance with electrical codes and our product certifications Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product management, R&D, and operations to develop application solutions, support business development, and align with customer needs Assist in project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery Who You Are: Your resourcefulness and problem-solving abilities will drive exceptional solutions for our customers. For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant engineering experience Practical electrical engineering experience with low voltage power systems Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Creo, EPLAN, or similar 3D software) Ability to interpret technical documents and provide application support Excellent communication and project management abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Hands-on testing experience using electrical measurement tools Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and international electrical standards Introductory experience with hazardous area applications, including control systems, instrumentation, and low voltage power distribution Knowledge of hazardous location classifications, protection methods (Ex d, Ex e, Ex i), and global standards (NEC, IEC, API) Experience in a manufacturing environment with strong teamwork skills Familiarity with electrical power distribution and control equipment Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent organizational abilities and ability to manage tasks and projects effectively Our Culture & Commitment to You: We recognize the importance of employee wellbeing and know that to do your best you must have flexible, competitive benefit plans to meet you and your family’s physical, mental, financial, and social needs.
