We're looking for an Application Engineer – Switchgear Controls & Digital Systems to join our Power Distribution Services team. This is a hybrid role based in Hengelo, Netherlands, or Ankara, Türkiye , offering the opportunity to work on future-focused technologies, collaborate with international teams, and contribute to the digitalization and modernization of critical power infrastructure across the EMEA region. What you’ll do: Execute engineering activities for MV and LV switchgear retrofit projects, with a focus on control, protection, and digital systems. Deliver solutions involving SCADA integration, protection relays, trip units, RTUs, RMUs, and digital secondary systems. Support relay programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and on-site project activities.Design and integrate SCADA-ready control architectures and remote-control solutions. Provide technical expertise and support to service teams across EMEA.Conduct site assessments and customer visits to define project scope and execution requirements. Act as a technical champion for switchgear controls, protection, and digital systems.Contribute to technical documentation, best practices, and the standardization of retrofit solutions. Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Distribution, Services, or Switchgear Engineering. Strong knowledge of MV switchgear and protection relays. Strong understanding of switchgear, trip units, and control systems.Experience with SCADA systems, RTUs, digital control architectures, and RMUs. Hands-on experience with protection relay programming, configuration, and commissioning. Skills: Strong customer-focus, communication skills, and ability to work independently. Fluent English and willingness to support projects across the EMEA region.
