Position Summary The Applications Analyst – Epic Prelude reports to the Assistant Manager, Epic Applications. This position is responsible for advanced support, troubleshooting, maintenance, design, build, testing, implementation, and optimization of Epic Prelude and related patient access applications. The role partners with patient access, registration, scheduling, clinical operations, revenue cycle, health information management, compliance, information services, and Epic/vendor stakeholders to support accurate, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered workflows. Key areas of responsibility include patient identity, registration, demographics, guarantor and coverage information, eligibility, benefits, authorization dependencies, workqueues, enterprise records, application reliability, and cross-application integration. Essential Position Responsibilities Maintain advanced knowledge of Epic Prelude functionality, including patient identity, registration, demographics, guarantor and coverage records, eligibility, benefits, authorization dependencies, workqueues, enterprise records, interfaces, and downstream impacts across the health system Lead patient access, registration, scheduling, clinical, revenue cycle, compliance, internal information services, and Epic/vendor partners in developing Prelude enhancements, optimization initiatives, and workflow improvement projects Oversee Epic Prelude application design, build, configuration, maintenance, and validation to ensure functionality aligns with patient access operations, patient safety, regulatory, revenue cycle, and end-user requirements Perform complex analysis, build, implementation, and optimization of workflows supporting patient identification, pre-registration, registration, demographic updates, guarantor and coverage maintenance, eligibility verification, authorization handoffs, and workqueue management Configure and maintain patient, guarantor, coverage, registration, and related Prelude records in accordance with approved governance, data-integrity, and change-control processes Meet regularly with patient access leaders, registrars, schedulers, clinical departments, health information management, compliance, privacy, and revenue cycle teams to evaluate workflow concerns and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, regulatory compliance, data quality, and user experience Lead coordinated testing for Epic Prelude, including unit, regression, system, integrated, interface, registration, eligibility, coverage, workqueue, billing, reporting, and user acceptance testing Serve as an application and workflow resource by translating patient access, revenue cycle, regulatory, operational, and business requirements into reliable system solutions Coordinate interfaces and integrations with Cadence, Grand Central, Resolute, MyChart, identity and eligibility services, document management, reporting and analytics, and other connected clinical and enterprise applications Provide mentorship for team members and assist with analyst training, workflow education, and knowledge transfer, as needed Ensure programs and services support applicable privacy, security, Medicare, payer, price-transparency, quality, Joint Commission, CMS, and organizational governance requirements Ensure the safeguarding of protected health information and appropriate application access while supporting accurate patient matching and duplicate-record prevention Maintain accurate application documentation, build records, test scripts, workflow diagrams, issue resolutions, security requirements, and support materials Monitor help desk software for new tickets; troubleshoot complex Prelude and patient access application issues; perform root-cause analysis; and document timely, sustainable resolutions Lead Epic Prelude projects, upgrades, enhancements, optimization efforts, go-live activities, testing, stabilization, and ongoing maintenance initiatives Identify and lead opportunities to standardize and improve patient identity, registration, demographic, guarantor, coverage, eligibility, authorization, workqueue, and revenue cycle workflows through application optimization and process improvement Adhere to all information services policies, procedures, application governance, change-management, and documentation standards Participate in on-call support and lead incident response, issue resolution, and downtime procedures for assigned applications, as needed Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or clinical license, preferred. Licensure and Certifications: Epic Prelude certification required. Additional Epic certification or proficiency in Cadence, Grand Central, Resolute, MyChart, Cheers, Cogito, or related integrated applications preferred. Experience: Four to six years of patient access, registration, revenue cycle, operational, or healthcare applications experience as an applications analyst supporting multiple modules or applications, with direct experience in Epic build, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization strongly preferred. Experience supporting Epic Prelude workflows is preferred, including patient identity, registration, demographic maintenance, guarantor and coverage records, eligibility, workqueues, interfaces, and downstream billing dependencies. Strong knowledge of patient access operations, application dependencies, testing methodologies, integration workflows, change control, privacy and regulatory requirements, and coordination with clinical, revenue cycle, compliance, technology, data, reporting, and operational teams is required. Work Environment : This position will spend 90% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 10% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This role is considered a remote position with onsite presence as needed.
