Salary Range: $188,000.00 To $197,000.00 Annually Job Title: Application Architect Location: Remote/Hybrid - DHS CISA, 4200 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington VA 22203 and 4601 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22203. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. Security Requirements: Must be a US Citizen eligible to obtain / maintain a D HS/CISA Public Trust Level Clearance. AttainX is seeking an experienced Application Architect to support DHS CISA’s Critical Infrastructure Collaboration Platform (CICP). This position will support Digital Solution Development, Automation, and Infrastructure Support. This position designs secure, scalable applications and guides modernization, integration, and workflow automation. The application architect collaborates with developers, engineers, security specialists, and Government stakeholders to support critical infrastructure risk analysis and resilience. Qualifications and Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education, training, and relevant experience will be considered. 7+ year’s experience designing enterprise application architectures and guiding development, integration, and legacy system modernization. Experience with cloud-native or hybrid architectures, microservices, APIs, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) integration. Experience planning data migration and integration with data integrity, continuity, validation, and rollback controls. Working knowledge of secure application design, Zero Trust, identity and access management, and OAuth 2.0 and SAML authentication. Ability to translate requirements into architecture plans, interface specifications, and implementation guidance. Experience with agile delivery, code and design reviews, automated deployment pipelines, and lifecycle testing and evaluation. Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL processes, cloud storage, and integration with enterprise analytics and visualization platforms. Ability to incorporate Federal security, privacy, accessibility, and ATO requirements, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and Section 508. Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills; ability to explain architecture options and trade-offs to varied audiences. Experience with Federal or DHS/CISA systems, geospatial or risk analytics applications, and AI/ML integration is preferred. Must be a US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance. Job Duties: The Application Architect provides application design and technical guidance for CICP modernization and integration. Responsibilities include: Assess application architecture, data models, interfaces, and dependencies; identify technical debt, modernization opportunities, security risks, and performance limitations. Develop target-state application architectures aligned with CISA enterprise architecture and DHS security requirements for scalability, resilience, and interoperability. Define components, APIs, service boundaries, and integration patterns; guide developers in implementing approved designs through agile delivery. Evaluate cloud services and SaaS offerings; document security, governance, maintainability, performance, and cost trade-offs. Design migration strategies with validation, rollback, and transition procedures to protect data integrity and maintain service continuity. Develop architecture plans, interface specifications, transition roadmaps, and implementation inputs covering milestones, dependencies, resources, and testing. Conduct design reviews covering integration, security, logging, cost, health monitoring, identity management, and enterprise interoperability. Guide integration with ServiceNow, Elastic, Power BI, and other enterprise services; address authentication compatibility and data exchange standards. Collaborate on secure data pipelines, ETL interfaces, storage, data quality checks, and integration with data lakes and analytics tools. Define infrastructure requirements with CISA IT engineering and the CTO’s organization; support cloud performance and capacity planning. Incorporate cybersecurity, privacy, Zero Trust, FedRAMP, FISMA, and Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII) controls; support ATO documentation and remediation. Review application code and development pipelines for architecture conformance and secure development practices; recommend corrective actions. Define test criteria and support test plans, modeling, simulation, and developmental and operational testing; recommend actions for Government acceptance. Guide enhancements and user interface designs to meet evolving requirements, usability needs, agency branding, and Section 508 accessibility. Design integration of machine learning, large language models, and other AI capabilities for workflow automation and risk analytics under approved controls. Maintain architecture diagrams, design decisions, workflows, and SOPs; support knowledge transfer, deployment, sustainment, and decommissioning.
