The Applications Developer II position within the Muma College of Business (MDOB) Financial Management (FM) team assists with developing and maintaining reports and web applications that enhance academic coordination across the college. This is an intermediate level professional information technology position; a major function of the unit is the development and support of a specialized application. Working under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Financial Management, the Applications Developer II is expected to apply technical knowledge and skills to help plan, develop, update, and maintain static websites, web applications, databases, and servers. The essential functions of positions assigned to this classification must include systems analysis and development, applications programming, and/or database analysis and development. This position requires specialized knowledge of appropriate programming languages and development tools. The position also assists in developing effective reporting tools to support the business unit's information requirements using SQL and appropriate visualizations (such as Microsoft Power BI). The position may also help with supporting other MCOB web development and technical needs, as required. This position requires the ability to complete most development and programming tasks independently. Application Programming and Software Development Develop programming code or software modifications using appropriate languages and tools to optimize resources and meet functional user requirements. Develop program code, assemble/compile code, and debug code to meet user specifications. Use productivity tools to develop and modify applications software. Work with users to test and debug programs. Modify existing or third party software. Write documentation to provide user support for programs and for production/operating procedures. Maintain and support associated databases. Systems Analysis and Development Analyze user system and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements. Consult with users to identify and document requirements. Evaluate specifications and requirements against available systems and functionality. Design integrated solutions which may include applications, databases, networks, and related systems. Develop program specifications and review with user to ensure requirements are met. Recommend modifications to third party software and/or evaluate the procurement of third party applications. Data Base Analysis and Development Structure, implement, and maintain database systems. Establish policies, standards and procedures to ensure useful and readily accessible data. Design database systems and programs. Analyze data requirements, develop and document data dictionary, and develop data models. Work with user community to understand data access and integration needs. Ensure the integration of systems throughout the database structure. Monitor database standards and procedures, system usage and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve database and data problems. Monitor, analyze, and verify data to ensure data integrity. Conduct file maintenance. Maintain the data dictionary Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and two years of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and three years of IT related work experience, OR a Master’s degree and one year of IT related work experience, OR a combination of six years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field; proficiency in developing web applications using C# and ASP.NET, .Net Razor pages, and basic knowledge of Power BI. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training.
