ArcGIS Enterprise Technical Architect

Location: United Kingdom (Home-Based) - must have full Right to work in UK
Hybrid Working: Occasional travel to our Aylesbury, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Belfast offices, as well as customer visits across the UK
Salary: Circa £75,000 (doe) + generous bonus (circa 20%)
Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a Technical Architect / ArcGIS Enterprise Subject Matter Expert to join our Operational Services team.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of ArcGIS Enterprise delivery within Esri UK, working across critical sectors and complex environments whilst developing your architectural career within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Operational Services provides a range of services focused on helping customers succeed by ensuring their systems remain secure, resilient and healthy.

Initially, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of Enterprise Services, our centre of excellence for ArcGIS Enterprise. This will include mentoring and developing consultants whilst developing and upholding technical standards and best practices. You will lead on defining reference architectures and patterns, driving observability and proactive service health.

In parallel, you will play a key role in transforming how we deliver future ArcGIS Enterprise installations, upgrades and migrations, driving consistency, quality and scalability across our services.

You will work across a diverse range of environments including enhanced security environments, public cloud platforms and Esri UK Managed Services, supporting customers across sectors such as Defence, Public Safety, Government, Commercial, Transport, AEC and Critical National Infrastructure.

As our Technical Architect, you will:

• Design scalable, secure and commercially viable ArcGIS Enterprise solutions
• Mentor and support consultants, fostering a culture of learning and problem-solving
• Lead architecture across the full lifecycle, from design through to optimisation
• Drive improvements in how we build, upgrade, migrate and operate systems
• Identify and shape new service offerings to help customers keep ArcGIS Enterprise healthy
• Develop technical standards, best practices and reference architectures
• Drive observability and proactive service health across customer environments

This would be a great career move if you:

• Have a track record of successfully engaging with customers and significant hands-on experience in the design, configuration and deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise systems
• Have deep knowledge of databases, web applications, integrations, software engineering, networking, cloud infrastructure, disaster recovery and high availability
• Have experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms
• Understand cybersecurity principles and practices, including firewalls, Zero Trust architectures and SAML
• Are familiar with automation, ArcGIS Notebooks and serverless compute
• Can confidently engage with developers working with languages such as Python and JavaScript
• Are comfortable working with REST APIs
• Have experience of ITIL service management and operating enterprise-scale systems
• Can build strong relationships and engage effectively with stakeholders
• Are a pragmatic and effective problem solver
