Job Title: Architect
Job Description
This Architect role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 1215+ years of experience who is ready to lead complex projects and grow into a principal or associate position. You will oversee multi-family mid-rise and high-rise developments, mixed-use and commercial projects, and occasional religious facilities from concept through completion. The role combines design leadership, technical expertise, and project management in a highly collaborative, design-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-family, mixed-use, commercial, and occasional religious projects from initial concept through construction completion.
- Manage all phases of the architectural process, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Coordinate and oversee project teams, assisting project captains and project managers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) requirements, building codes, zoning regulations, and client preferences.
- Review and respond to DOB objections, resolving issues while maintaining overall design intent and project goals.
- Apply strong coding and zoning knowledge to guide project feasibility, massing, and planning decisions.
- Lead and contribute to design development, producing high-quality, creative, and buildable design solutions.
- Prepare, review, and refine construction documents, drawings, and specifications with a high level of accuracy.
- Use Revit and related plug-ins to develop, coordinate, and document project models and drawings.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external consultants to coordinate structural, MEP, and other disciplines.
- Participate in client meetings, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback into project deliverables.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and visiting sites as needed.
- Contribute to interior design aspects of projects when applicable, integrating architecture and interiors cohesively.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining design and technical quality.
Essential Skills
- 1215+ years of professional architectural experience, including substantial work in NYC.
- Proven experience with multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial projects, including mid-rise and high-rise buildings.
- Strong project management and project coordination skills, with the ability to lead projects from start to finish.
- Deep knowledge of NYC DOB processes, building codes, and zoning regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to review and resolve DOB objections while preserving design intent and compliance.
- High proficiency in Revit, including use of plug-ins such as Enscape.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and documentation.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for presentations and visual communication.
- Experience with 3D computer modeling software for design visualization.
- Strong construction document production skills and familiarity with construction administration processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a project manager, capable of mentoring and assisting project captains and project managers.
- residential architecture and multifamily housing design.
- Experience in interior design is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in growing into a principal or associate-level leadership role.
- Ability to contribute to a collaborative, design-driven studio culture.
Work Environment
You will work in a beautiful, open-plan office located in a downtown Brooklyn high-rise with 360-degree views of the city. The role follows a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
