Job Title: Architectural Designer (Intermediate Level)

Job Description

This Intermediate Architectural Designer role focuses on supporting the design and execution of data center and other mission critical facilities within a highly collaborative architecture and engineering environment. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to develop thoughtful design solutions and produce high-quality construction documents, using Revit extensively across all project phases. The position offers the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise in Revit and data center design while contributing to complex, high-profile projects in a professional, team-oriented setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop architectural designs for data center and mission critical facility projects, ensuring functional, efficient, and coordinated layouts.
• Produce complete construction document packages in Revit, including drawings and supporting documentation required for permitting and construction.
• Create and modify architectural floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings using Revit to accurately convey design intent.
• Coordinate closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other engineering disciplines to align architectural design with overall project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and design reviews, contributing design ideas, documenting decisions, and incorporating feedback into project deliverables.
• Ensure all drawings and construction documents comply with applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Support project delivery from schematic design through design development and construction documentation, maintaining consistency and quality throughout phases.
• Assist with design revisions based on client feedback, field conditions, and engineering input, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
• Contribute to construction administration activities, such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and supporting resolution of design-related field issues.
• Coordinate architectural design packages through multiple project phases, tracking updates and ensuring alignment across disciplines.
• Work closely with project teams to understand data center layouts, equipment coordination, and infrastructure requirements and reflect these accurately in the design.
• Use tools such as Bluebeam and other software, as applicable, to review, mark up, and coordinate drawings and project documents.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, designers, and engineers in a professional office environment, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork.

Essential Skills

• 38 years of architectural design experience in a professional environment.
• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on Revit experience in a professional architecture or engineering setting.
• Proven experience producing complete, coordinated construction document sets.
• Demonstrated ability to create and modify architectural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details, using Revit.
• Experience participating in schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases.
• Understanding of data center or mission critical facility design, including layouts, equipment coordination, and infrastructure requirements (previous experience strongly preferred).
• Solid understanding of building codes and construction practices and the ability to apply them to design and documentation.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey design concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong coordination skills for working closely with engineering disciplines to align architectural design with project deliverables.
• Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and contribute to a positive, professional office culture.
• Bachelors degree in Architecture preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mission critical facilities, including hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centers.
• Background in healthcare or commercial projects is beneficial.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination processes and tools.
• Experience with construction administration activities, such as RFIs, submittal review, and field issue resolution.
• Working knowledge of building codes and standards as they relate to complex facilities.
• Proficiency or familiarity with Bluebeam for drawing review and markups.
• Experience using SketchUp for 3D modeling and design visualization.
• Experience with Photoshop for presentation graphics and visual communication.
• Experience with AutoCAD for supplemental drafting and coordination.
• LEED accreditation or exposure to sustainable design principles is a plus.
• Strong design sensibility, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
• Interest in expanding technical expertise in Revit and data center design.

Work Environment

This role is based in a professional architecture and engineering office located in Midtown Manhattan and follows a hybrid work schedule that combines in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will work in a collaborative team setting alongside architects, designers, and engineers, engaging regularly in project discussions, design reviews, and coordination meetings. The environment emphasizes teamwork, technical excellence, and shared problem-solving on complex, high-profile data center and mission critical projects. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, providing a structured schedule in a modern office setting designed to support focused design work, interdisciplinary coordination, and professional development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
