Job Description

This Architectural Designer role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex architectural and aviation-focused projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Based in Maryland, you will support projects from concept through construction, working closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to deliver high-quality design solutions. The position is ideal for an experienced designer looking to grow their technical and project coordination skills while working on large-scale infrastructure and aviation developments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of architectural projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Collaborate with project teams, consultants, and clients to develop design solutions and project deliverables.
  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, models, specifications, and construction documents using Revit, BIM, and AutoCAD.
  • Support project managers in maintaining schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with design intent.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements are effectively incorporated into design documents.
  • Apply building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards throughout the design process.
  • Assist in resolving design and construction-related issues that arise during project execution.
  • Create presentations, renderings, and design documentation utilizing Adobe Creative Suite and other visualization tools.
  • Stay current on architectural trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to support innovative project delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 6+ years of architectural design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and construction document production.
  • Experience developing design drawings and construction documents for commercial, institutional, infrastructure, or aviation-related projects.
  • Solid understanding of building codes, construction methods, and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Architectural licensure or progress toward licensure is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aviation, transportation, government, commercial, corporate, higher education, or laboratory projects.
  • Familiarity with construction administration, site observations, and consultant coordination.
  • Experience collaborating with architecture and engineering teams on large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling, project coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite for presentations and visual communication.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid opportunity supporting architectural and aviation infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Team members collaborate using Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite while working alongside architects, engineers, and project stakeholders. Current projects include airport terminal improvements, aviation support facilities, tenant relocations, and other large-scale infrastructure developments. The role offers a mix of office-based design work, coordination meetings, and occasional site visits to support project execution and professional growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
