About the Role

As an Architectural Drafter, you will work closely with our design, estimating and construction teams to produce accurate, detailed and construction-ready drawings for residential projects.

The role will involve drafting new home designs, modifying existing plans, preparing documentation for approvals and incorporating client and project requirements into practical residential designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate architectural drawings and documentation for residential homes.
• Develop and modify floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans and details.
• Prepare drawings for single-storey and double-storey homes, duplexes, granny flats and custom homes.
• Incorporate client changes and design revisions accurately and efficiently.
• Update existing house designs and standard plans according to project requirements.
• Produce drawings suitable for tender, approval and construction documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant Australian building standards, planning requirements and project specifications.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with engineering, hydraulic and other consultant documentation.
• Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, consistency and constructability.
• Work with the internal team to resolve drafting and design issues.
• Maintain organised drawing files, revisions and documentation.
• Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Communicate effectively with the team through online meetings, email and project-management platforms.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Architectural Drafter, Building Designer or similar residential drafting role.
• Strong experience with residential construction documentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit or similar drafting software.
• Good understanding of Australian residential construction practices.
• Familiarity with Australian building regulations, planning requirements and residential documentation.
• Strong understanding of floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans and construction details.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to interpret architectural concepts and turn them into practical drawings.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good time-management and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and revisions.

Desirable

• Experience working with NSW residential projects.
• Familiarity with Sydney/South-West Sydney council requirements.
• Experience preparing documentation for DA, CDC or construction approval.
• Experience working with custom home builders.
• Knowledge of BASIX and coordination requirements.
• Experience with residential project variations and client amendments.
• Previous experience working remotely with an Australian builder or architectural/design company.

This is a remote position, so the successful candidate must have:

• Reliable high-speed internet connection.
• A suitable computer capable of running professional CAD/BIM software.
• Quiet and professional workspace.
• Ability to attend online meetings during agreed working hours.
• Ability to communicate promptly through email, Microsoft Teams/Zoom and other project-management platforms.
• Strong self-management and ability to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
