This role leads architectural project teams in developing and delivering high-quality design solutions, with a focus on education-sector and academic projects. The Architectural Project Manager oversees projects from initial planning through construction, ensuring design excellence, technical accuracy, and strong client relationships while coordinating closely with internal teams and external consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural project teams in developing and delivering high-quality design solutions across all phases of a project.
• Collaborate closely with principals, designers, and technical staff to align design intent, technical execution, and project goals.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and fees, and assign tasks effectively to team members to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
• Serve as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear, consistent communication.
• Coordinate effectively with consultants, including engineers and other specialists, to integrate their work into cohesive project documents.
• Oversee project documentation and quality control from concept design through construction documents and construction administration.
• Conduct site visits, building assessments, and existing-conditions documentation to inform design decisions and technical solutions.
• Support project planning by using benchmarks, cost data, and code research to guide design, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Facilitate client meetings, presentations, and work sessions, representing the firm professionally and articulating design and technical concepts clearly.
• Participate in construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and monitoring construction progress as needed.
• Travel as required for site work, client engagement, and coordination with project stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• Professional degree in architecture.
• Architectural registration required.
• 35+ years of project management experience in architecture.
• 1020 years of overall architecture experience.
• Demonstrated experience with academic and education-sector projects.
• Proficiency in Revit for design, documentation, and coordination.
• Experience with construction documents and construction administration.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proven leadership skills in guiding and mentoring project teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
• Ability to make design and technical decisions grounded in practical experience.
• Experience in architecture project management and client leadership.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for presentations and design communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for project planning, documentation, and communication.
• Collaborative and flexible approach to team leadership and problem-solving.
• Experience working with benchmarks, cost data, and building codes to support project planning.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
• Comfort presenting to clients and facilitating meetings and workshops.

Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with an expectation to be in the office three days per week and to collaborate closely with in-person and remote team members. The role involves regular use of Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office, as well as other standard architectural design and documentation tools. Work includes a mix of focused design and documentation tasks, team coordination, client meetings, and consultant collaboration. The position requires travel to project sites for site visits, building assessments, and client engagements. The work environment emphasizes collaboration, professionalism, and a flexible, team-oriented approach to delivering high-quality architectural solutions for academic and education-sector projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $67.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
