Area Manager of Operations for Slovak Clinics
Location: Based in the Žilina Region, with frequent travel to clinics across Central and Eastern Slovakia.
As the Area Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the operational management of 13 clinics across Central and Eastern Slovakia, supporting the efficient delivery of high-quality patient care.
This is a home-based role requiring travel to clinics approximately two to three days per week. You will work closely with clinic medical directors and local teams to translate business priorities into practical actions, address operational challenges, and improve clinic performance.
The role combines hands-on operational coordination with strong analytical and financial responsibilities. Success requires credibility with senior medical professionals, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and maintain momentum in a demanding healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operational performance across 13 clinics, working closely with clinic medical directors and local teams.
- Visit clinics regularly to understand local needs, identify operational challenges, and agree on practical solutions.
- Coordinate priorities, resources, and follow-up actions across clinics, supporting service continuity and consistent operational standards.
Collaboration with Medical Leadership
- Build trusted working relationships with clinic medical directors, heads of departments, and other senior healthcare professionals.
- Communicate business and operational priorities clearly, with an understanding of clinical responsibilities and the demands of patient care.
- Handle challenging discussions constructively, balance differing priorities, and secure agreement on actions and accountability.
Analysis and Performance Management
- Analyze operational and financial data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable improvements.
- Agree on performance objectives, monitor progress, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and present results, risks, and recommendations to local and international management.
Budgeting and Resource Management
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and support the effective use of resources.
- Review financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining service quality.
Planning and Operational Improvement
- Contribute to strategic planning and translate organizational objectives into local operational plans.
- Coordinate improvement initiatives and support the implementation of changes across clinics.
- Maintain consistent follow-through on agreed priorities in a complex and evolving environment.
Quality and Compliance
- Work with Medical, Quality, and Compliance colleagues to support adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Identify operational risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation and improvement actions.
Cross-functional and International Collaboration
- Collaborate with local and international business leaders, corporate teams, and functions including Medical, Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance.
- Use English regularly in meetings, presentations, reporting, and day-to-day communication with international stakeholders.
- Engage with external service providers, suppliers, local authorities, and government representatives as required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in General Management, Finance, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience managing operations, resources, or complex cross-functional activities.
- Experience with a healthcare provider or in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred, supported by a strong understanding of the healthcare environment and how clinical workplaces operate.
- Proven experience working regularly with senior physicians, clinic medical directors, or heads of hospital departments, with the ability to build credibility, adapt communication to the audience, and gain their engagement.
- Strong operational judgment and the ability to coordinate activities and influence outcomes across professional groups.
- Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with confidence in interpreting data, managing budgets, and recommending practical actions.
- Professional proficiency in English, enabling confident communication with international business and corporate stakeholders.
- Resilience and composure under pressure, with the ability to navigate demanding conversations, competing priorities, and setbacks constructively.
- Strong self-management and self-motivation, including the ability to organize your schedule, prioritize independently, and follow through without close supervision.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Central and Eastern Slovakia approximately two to three days per week.
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to work with CRM, SAP, and modern communication systems.
Salary starting from €3,000 gross per month.
