Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Art Director to lead the visual direction across our growing portfolio of AI-powered mobile games and interactive experiences. You’ll define and evolve our aesthetic north star, establish visual standards across products, and guide internal and external artists to execute on a cohesive vision that feels distinctive, polished, and adaptable.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance strong traditional art direction with emerging generative AI workflows and thrive in a fast-moving startup environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Define and evolve the overall visual identity across our games and interactive experiences, ensuring aesthetic consistency across gameplay, UI/UX, characters, environments, and supporting content.
Collaborate closely with Creative, Design, Product, and Engineering leads to align visual direction with narrative, gameplay, and product goals.
Lead concept development for characters, environments, interfaces, visual systems, and marketing assets.
Develop and maintain style guides, art standards, and visual references for internal teams and external partners.
Define and manage production pipelines for image, video, and other creative assets, including workflows incorporating generative AI.
Manage and mentor artists, providing actionable feedback and ensuring work consistently meets quality and style expectations.
Oversee outsourcing and contractor relationships, ensuring assets are delivered on time and aligned with the creative vision.
Ensure visual design supports storytelling, gameplay clarity, player emotion, and an intuitive mobile experience.
Partner with marketing and brand teams to maintain visual cohesion across player touchpoints.
Stay current on visual trends, emerging AI tools, mobile game design, UI/UX, and interactive storytelling, continuously evolving our visual language and production capabilities.
Experiment with new tools and workflows that enable the team to produce high-quality creative work faster and more effectively.
What We’re Looking For
4–5+ years of experience in game development, including at least 3–4 years in an art direction or comparable creative leadership role.
Hands-on experience with generative AI tools and creative production pipelines is required; experience using AI-powered coding and prototyping platforms such as Claude Code, v0, Lovable, or similar tools is a major plus.
A strong portfolio demonstrating art direction across stylized, narrative-driven, mobile, or interactive game experiences.
Deep understanding of how visual design supports storytelling, gameplay, player emotion, and engagement.
Experience collaborating across disciplines including game design, narrative, product, engineering, and marketing.
Strong visual storytelling instincts, with a sophisticated understanding of composition, color, lighting, visual hierarchy, and pacing.
Experience establishing the visual tone and style of UI/UX across mobile and other screen-based experiences.
Experience creating scalable art pipelines, style guides, and systems that enable multiple artists or external partners to execute consistently.
Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on, moving between defining the creative vision and helping solve practical production challenges.
Excited by experimentation and the opportunity to rethink traditional game-art workflows using generative AI.
Comfortable working in a startup environment that is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and constantly evolving.
