Job Description - Asset and Infrastructure Readiness Manager (55995) Job Description Asset and Infrastructure Readiness Manager Job Number : 55995 1 temporary, full-time position up to 18 months in duration The Transition Management Office will successfully transition the operation and maintenance of the Valley Line from the private operator TransEd to the City of Edmonton. This is a highly complex project with tight timelines that supports City Council direction provided earlier this year. The Transition Management Office team is also responsible for coordination of all integration, testing, and commissioning support for all Valley Line West infrastructure that is being transitioned to the City of Edmonton. This is complex integration work with tight deadlines that require coordination with multiple technical subject matter experts across the entire City. Reporting to the Director, Transition Management Office, the Asset and Infrastructure Readiness Manager will lead both internal staff and external consultants in managing the transition of physical infrastructure from TransEd to the City of Edmonton. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that the City of Edmonton is fully prepared for seamless operations from day one. Key responsibilities include overseeing asset condition reviews, managing service contracts, and the migration of network and software systems. This position will also be accountable for integrating, testing, and commissioning all Valley Line West infrastructure—such as facilities, track, and systems assets — to ensure zero service impact during the transition. What will you do? Lead a team of professionals, including electric vehicle mechanics, technical advisors, and various subject matter experts. Staffing requirements may fluctuate based on project schedules and integration workloads for the Valley Line West Oversee consultants supporting the Transition Management Office regarding asset and infrastructure readiness Coordinate technical feedback on asset condition handback surveys with internal business partners to determine TransEd termination payments and to create response plans for infrastructure deficiencies, including cost estimates and schedules Coordinate with all areas in the City Operations Department to ensure they have the proper resources in place for day one of operation, including materials, staff, and equipment Coordinate the asset integration, testing, and commissioning for Valley Line West Infrastructure, ensuring that subject matter experts throughout the City are given adequate notice and support Work closely with ETS Technical Services and the Open City and Technology Branch to ensure the successful migration of software programs for operation. Anticipate business opportunities, influence policies, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, levels of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches Qualifications : Knowledge or training and/or education in Engineering, Project Management, Asset Management, Business Administration, or other related disciplines Experience with constructing and/or maintaining LRT infrastructure Experience in a senior leadership role within a large, complex organization Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams Combinations of education and experience will be considered Assets: Membership with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Project Management Professional (PMP) or a related designation(s) Additional training in financial management, public administration, government relations, project management, and/or change management Skills required for success: Proven ability to build a respectful workplace culture through a values-based influencer approach and work collaboratively Understanding of complex municipal subject matter and a proven ability to build influential relationships with internal and external partners Strong political acumen, strategic planning, issue resolution and decision-making skills Proven ability to present complex ideas to diverse audiences, build positive relationships and establish clear expectations Service excellence, embracing diversity and promoting inclusiveness Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Conditions of Employment and Work Environment: 1 temporary, full-time position up to 18 months in duration Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
