What you’ll do | Hei mahi

As an Assistant Category Manager in the Dairy portfolio, you will work alongside our Category Manager to drive category plans that put customers first, simplify life for our stores, and hit commercial targets. A big part of your role involves running an effective promotional plan to grow sales, profit, and market share while supporting the wider team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to shape our Dairy promotional strategy by getting the timing, depth and funding right so customers get genuine, market-leading value
  • Turn everyday shopping data and commercial analytics into standout promotions that get customers excited and boost sales and profitability
  • Bring campaigns to life across key touchpoints within our business including Marketing, Cartology, EVeryday rewards, Milk Run, Online and our internal support system
  • Work directly with suppliers to negotiate promo plans that hit our targets and deliver wins for both sides
  • Team up with our Supply Chain key stakeholders to keep everyone aligned and make sure every promotion runs without a hitch through forecasting and planning

What you’ll bring | Hei mahi

  • You bring relevant experience from a previous role, a similar commercial position in FMCG or have studied business or related subjects at a tertiary level
  • You are comfortable digging into and understanding sales figures, using Excel, Google tools, or retail systems to spot trends and make smart business calls
  • You can back yourself in supplier conversations, holding your ground when needed while keeping relationships strong and positive
  • You naturally keep plates spinning, staying organised and managing your time well even when things move fast
  • You genuinely enjoy working with people, bringing clear communication, a collaborative approach, and a positive attitude to the team
  • You like sharing what you know and take pride in helping junior team members build their skills
