Is this job info correct?
We’re looking for an Assistant Company Secretary to join CFC’s Governance team at an exciting point in our growth. This is a hands-on role with real visibility across the business, supporting board and committee activity, UK and overseas entities, statutory records, governance processes and wider projects that help CFC operate well as we continue to scale.

You’ll work closely with the Company Secretary and senior stakeholders across the Group, so this would suit someone who enjoys being trusted with detail, staying close to the business and making sure governance is practical, organised and well run. If you’re looking for a role where your work has breadth, pace and exposure, this is a strong next step.

What you'll be doing

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of company secretarial services across the Group, working closely with the Company Secretary and Deputy Company Secretary.
  • Supporting board and committee meetings from planning through to follow-up, including agendas, papers, minutes and actions.
  • Maintaining statutory books, entity records and filings, making sure information is accurate, well organised and kept up to date.
  • Helping manage governance requirements for overseas entities, liaising with local teams, external providers and internal stakeholders to keep things moving smoothly.
  • Getting involved in projects, transactions and governance initiatives that give you exposure beyond day-to-day entity administration.
  • Supporting the administration of employee share scheme transactions.
  • Bringing ideas on how systems, technology and AI can make governance processes simpler, smarter and more effective.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can come in with confidence, settle into the team quickly and keep important governance activity moving. You should be comfortable working at pace, managing sensitive information and using your experience to make good judgement calls.
  • Proven experience in a company secretarial, governance, legal operations or board support role, with enough grounding to get up to speed quickly and contribute with confidence.
  • A solid working knowledge of UK company law, statutory filings, record keeping and corporate governance best practice, with the confidence to apply this knowledge day to day.
  • The ability to manage board and committee support with care and accuracy, including papers, minutes, deadlines and follow-up actions.
  • A calm, professional style, with the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders and build trust quickly.
  • Comfort working with board portal or entity management systems. Experience with Diligent Boards or Diligent Entities would be helpful, as this is a role where being able to pick things up quickly will matter.
  • A practical, organised approach and the judgement to know what needs attention, what can be improved and when to ask for input.
  • A relevant professional qualification, or progress towards one, would be beneficial, but we’re most interested in someone who brings the right mix of experience, ownership and common sense.
