Assistant Controller

As we continue to grow organically and through acquisitions, we are seeking an exceptional Assistant Controller to help scale our finance organization and support the next phase of our growth. This is more than a traditional accounting role. You will serve as a trusted business partner, operational leader, and change agent who helps build processes, integrate acquisitions, and strengthen financial operations across a multi-entity organization. You'll work directly with the Controller while helping oversee accounting operations across multiple entities, supporting acquisitions, improving processes, and ensuring financial integrity throughout the organization. What You'll Do Financial Leadership Oversee monthly close activities and account reconciliations. Assist in preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple entities. Research technical accounting issues and prepare supporting documentation. Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP. Cash, Treasury & Banking Manage daily cash requirements and forecasting activities. Serve as primary banking administrator for all banking relationships. Oversee corporate credit card programs and expense management processes. Partner with FP&A to support cash planning and liquidity management. Operational Excellence Drive process improvements that increase efficiency and scalability. Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliation activities. Support payroll accounting and partner with HR to resolve issues. Oversee purchasing and remittance processes to maximize value and control costs. Assist with accounting system administration and integration activities. Audit, Compliance & M&A Coordinate external audit activities. Support tax reporting and compliance activities. Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration efforts. Assist with implementing Transit accounting processes across acquired companies. Leadership & Collaboration Partner with senior leadership on financial and accounting matters. Build strong relationships with business leaders, banking partners, auditors, and advisors. Support, coach, and develop members of the accounting team. Serve as a trusted finance partner across the organization. What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you will: Improve the efficiency and accuracy of monthly close processes. Strengthen intercompany accounting and reconciliation procedures. Support successful integrations of newly acquired businesses. Build strong partnerships across finance, operations, HR, and executive leadership. Identify and implement process improvements that create measurable impact. Help establish scalable accounting practices that support continued growth. What You Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Active CPA designation required. 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience. Experience leading accounting functions within a mid-sized organization. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Preferred Qualifications Prior public accounting or audit firm experience. Technology or software industry experience. Experience in multi-entity organizations. Experience with acquisitions and integration activities. Sage Intacct experience preferred. Experience working in private equity-backed organizations is a plus.
