We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Garment Technologist to join our Technical team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.
Reporting into the Technical team, you will play a key role in supporting the development of our menswear collections from initial concept through to production. Working closely with Buying, suppliers and factories, you'll help ensure our products meet Moss's high standards for fit, quality, construction and performance whilst remaining commercially viable.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys working collaboratively, solving problems and contributing to the delivery of exceptional products.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the technical development of products from initial sample stage through to production.
- Creating technical drawings to support product development and tech packs.
- Preparing and maintaining detailed technical packs, measurement specifications and garment standards.
- Partnering with Buying teams to ensure products meet commercial requirements whilst maintaining quality and fit expectations.
- Supporting the Technical team by measuring samples and preparing garments ahead of fit sessions.
- Attending fit sessions, providing accurate fit and construction comments, and capturing supporting imagery.
- Issuing fit comments to suppliers and supporting the approval of development, pre-production and shipment samples in collaboration with Buying and the Head of Technical.
- Ensuring all technical approvals are completed in line with critical path deadlines.
- Building effective relationships with international suppliers and factories to resolve technical, fit and quality issues.
- Reviewing laboratory test reports and ensuring products comply with quality, safety and performance standards.
- Investigating production issues, customer returns and quality concerns, supporting the implementation of corrective actions where required.
- Maintaining and updating supplier manuals and technical documentation.
- Supporting packaging development and management requirements.
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and supplier performance.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within a Garment Technology or Product Development role, ideally within apparel or fashion retail.
- Good understanding of garment construction, fit, grading and manufacturing processes.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical packs and measurement specifications.
- Strong knowledge of textile properties, quality assurance and garment testing.
- Understanding of critical path management and product development timelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience working with overseas factories and supplier bases would be advantageous.
About You
- You have a keen eye for detail and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
- You are highly organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You have a passion for product, quality and delivering the best possible customer experience.
- You communicate confidently and build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- You approach challenges proactively and enjoy finding practical solutions.
- You are a collaborative team player who thrives in a supportive and fast-moving environment.
- Most importantly, you consistently demonstrate Moss's values of Trust, Creativity, Collaboration and Agility in the way you work.
