About The Role
In FTI Consulting’s Legal team, we protect FTI Consulting’s brand by effectively managing and mitigating legal, compliance and regulatory risk.
With 800+ staff across 12 offices, FTI Consulting’s Asia Pacific business has a significant footprint in the region. We are looking for an Assistant General Counsel, based in Singapore, to be an additional member of the APAC legal team, supporting the Asia Pacific business by the prompt delivery of pragmatic, adaptable, and solutions-based legal advice. Reporting to the Head of Legal, APAC and working with APAC legal colleagues based in Singapore and Melbourne, the role will enjoy a challenging and varied workload that covers legal issues arising in an innovative professional services business.
What You'll Do
- Partner with FTI’s business segments across the region to support profitability, growth and commercial success.
- Work as a member of the APAC legal team delivering timely, pragmatic and effective legal advice to FTI’s client-facing professionals and corporate teams.
- Negotiate and draft client-facing contracts and advise internal clients on a broad range of legal matters, including commercial contracts and multi-jurisdictional issues.
- Collaborate with the APAC legal and risk teams to maintain and adapt standard form templates that comply with company policies and applicable laws.
- Proactively build deep knowledge of FTI’s practice areas and service offerings and strong relationships with FTI’s client-facing professionals.
- Advise the HR team on employment law matters relating to FTI’s employee and contractor arrangements across the region, including escalating to external counsel where appropriate.
- Identify and analyse current and emerging legal issues and communicate risks clearly to the business and work with the risk team to implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective legal services aligned with FTI’s standards and expectations.

What You Will Need to Succeed
- Qualified solicitor (common law jurisdiction), with 12-15 years’ experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house team.
- Experience in negotiating and advising on commercial arrangements with a range of clients, including government bodies, financial institutions and multinational corporations.
- Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks relevant to the region.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legal issues and to deliver creative, commercially sound and cost-effective solutions with an appropriate urgency and judgment.
