Building the Future of Wholesale Distribution Empowering Distributors with Automation and AI Canals is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its growing legal team. As the second lawyer at the company, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the legal function at a profitable, rapidly scaling software provider serving the backbone of the real economy. The Associate General Counsel will own the commercial contracts function end-to-end, advise across all business verticals, and build the legal processes and playbooks that enable Canals to scale efficiently. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role provides broad exposure to commercial, corporate, employment, compliance, and strategic legal matters. The Associate General Counsel will draft and negotiate complex enterprise SaaS and AI agreements, manage privacy compliance and data governance, and serve as an embedded legal partner to Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Finance. The position requires a pragmatic approach to risk, strong judgment, and the ability to communicate legal concepts in clear, approachable language. Ideal candidates will have a JD from an accredited law school, active bar membership, Am Law 100 firm in transactional or commercial practice. Deep expertise in commercial contract drafting and negotiation is essential, along with the ability to work independently and prioritize competing demands. Experience in high-growth tech environments, SaaS/AI business models, and data privacy frameworks is preferred. At Canals, legal is a strategic partner, not a bottleneck.
