SUMMARY:

The Associate Area Director, Clinical Operations is responsible for the direct oversight of nurse managers and assigned clinical staff within a defined group of clinics in an assigned area. Reporting to the Area Director, Clinical Operations, primary responsibility for assigned clinical staff includes ensuring adherence to clinical policies and procedures, standardized care conduct in assigned clinics, validation of clinical competency, and a focus on team engagement across the assigned sites in compliance with federal, state, and local standards as well as the policies and procedures of the organization.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day clinical oversight of assigned clinic sites and serve as the liaison between area clinical leadership and site-based nursing teams.
  • Direct, mentor, and evaluate the performance of assigned nurse managers and clinical supervisors, and partner with them to address clinical staff performance concerns.
  • Monitor clinical staffing levels, skill mix, and coverage across assigned sites and recommend adjustments to the Area Director, Clinical Operations based on patient volume and treatment schedules.
  • Ensure nursing practice at assigned sites adheres to chemotherapy and biotherapy administration standards, infusion safety practices, and hazardous drug handling requirements.
  • Conduct routine clinical rounding, chart review, and competency validation at assigned sites to confirm adherence to policy, scope of practice, and best practice performance for quality patient care.
  • Review assigned events in origami and site event dashboards to identify trends in patient safety/quality needs and escalate themes to area clinical leadership.
  • Partner with Risk Management, nurse managers, and clinical staff to ensure timely event review, root cause follow-up, and completion of corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of initiatives that effectively and efficiently meet clinic, area, organizational, and regulatory goals and objectives through analytical capabilities, process improvement identification and implementation, and technology enhancements.
  • Deliver clinical training and onboarding in partnership with Clinical Education and other departments and leaders. Overall, is responsible for ensuring completion of required training and annual competency validation for all areas that report to this position.
  • Implement new and approved clinical policies, procedures, and special projects at assigned clinic sites through the assigned nurse managers.
  • Evaluate clinical care equipment and supply needs for assigned sites and make recommendations to upline management.
  • Partner with practice operations leadership to facilitate communication between administrative services and assigned clinics and to ensure appropriate provider and clinical staff coverage while patients are present in the clinics.
  • Participate in the personnel aspects of the assigned clinical teams to include hiring, salary increase/adjustments, disciplinary actions, transfers, promotions, and terminations through appropriate and defined HR processes.
  • Support the financial goals of the organization by monitoring clinical overtime, agency utilization, and clinical supply spend within the established operating budget for assigned sites.
  • Comply will all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients' rights, safety, billing, and collections. Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures, including all assigned trainings, and maintain the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
  • Maintain accessibility to employees and physicians so they may report any concerns and follows up on those concerns in a timely manner.
  • Timely review and reporting of clinical key performance indicators, including action plans to address any negative performance trends.
  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote its mission, vision, and values, and foster positivity, both internally and externally.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing highly preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Registered Nurse in Florida. OCN certification preferred, or to be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire. Valid state Driver's License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous Experience: Five (5) years of experience or more in the healthcare field or clinic/outpatient setting with knowledge of Oncology required. Minimum three (3) years of clinical management experience.
