The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed, by supporting the delivery and operations of technology capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, the team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for external customers and internal colleagues. It also encompasses product management for core enterprise platforms, as well as technology risk and information security; enterprise data governance and platforms; digital product and design; and enterprise AI platforms across American Express.

We provide technology delivery leadership that turns complex enterprise priorities into execution, connecting strategy, teams, dependencies and governance to deliver measurable business outcomes.

The Associate, Delivery Management supports the execution of complex, cross-functional technology initiatives across Project Diamond and Customer Trust. Reporting to the Director of Technology Delivery, this role works across Technology, Product, and Business teams to help move delivery forward—maintaining clear plans, surfacing risks and dependencies early, driving follow-through on commitments, and ensuring leaders have an accurate view of progress and areas requiring attention.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who is highly organized, curious, and comfortable working through ambiguity. The successful candidate will be able to get into the details of an issue, understand what is preventing progress, connect dependencies across teams, and translate complex technical discussions into clear actions and delivery implications.

The Associate will also use AI-enabled tools and automation to improve the speed, quality, and consistency of delivery management, reporting, documentation, and follow-through

Delivery Execution:

  • Support day-to-day execution of technology initiatives across Project Diamond and Customer Trust, from planning through implementation.
  • Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans, milestones, commitments, dependencies, and critical dates across multiple teams and workstreams.
  • Track work through key delivery stages and maintain a clear view of what is complete, what remains, and what is required to reach the next milestone.
  • Identify deviations from plan early, understand the underlying cause and delivery impact, and drive appropriate follow-up with accountable owners.
  • Coordinate cross-team activities required to resolve blockers, close dependencies, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Support implementation readiness, including tracking required testing, approvals, sign-offs, deployment dependencies, contingency plans, and other exit criteria.
  • Support change management when scope, timing, dependencies, or delivery assumptions change.

Risk, Dependency & Decision Management:

  • Maintain clear visibility into risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and actions across assigned initiatives.
  • Go beyond documenting blockers by helping establish the path to resolution: what needs to happen, who owns it, by when, and when escalation is required.
  • Identify upstream and downstream dependencies across applications, platforms, teams, and initiatives and assess their impact on delivery plans.
  • Track open decisions and ensure unresolved items are surfaced to the appropriate decision-makers with the context needed to act.
  • Escalate material risks and issues early, with a clear articulation of impact, actions underway, and leadership support required.
  • Drive actions and commitments through closure and ensure outcomes are reflected in the overall delivery plan.

Governance & Executive Communication

  • Facilitate working sessions, checkpoints, and governance forums focused on execution, decisions, risks, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Prepare concise, fact-based status updates that clearly communicate what changed, what is at risk, the path forward, and where leadership intervention is required.
  • Maintain accurate program-level reporting across milestones, delivery health, risks, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Support Program Increment (PI) planning and PI closeout, including scope, commitments, carryover, dependencies, delivery forecasts, and outcomes.
  • Help ensure governance forums are decision- and action-oriented rather than primarily status-reporting exercises.

Technical & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner closely with Technology, Product, Business, and other delivery teams to understand execution plans and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Participate in technical discussions involving APIs, application integrations, data flows, environments, testing, deployment, and system dependencies.
  • Develop sufficient technical understanding to ask effective questions, identify delivery implications, and recognize when additional technical expertise or escalation is needed.
  • Translate technical discussions into clear business and delivery terms, including decisions, actions, risks, dependencies, owners, and timing.
  • Connect related issues across teams and workstreams to help identify potential downstream impacts before they affect delivery.

AI-Enabled Delivery:

  • Use AI-enabled tools to improve project tracking, meeting synthesis, status reporting, risk and action management, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, appropriate context, and alignment with source information before use.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive delivery-management activities and improve the timeliness and consistency of program information.
  • Help establish practical, responsible ways to incorporate AI into day-to-day delivery-management workflows.
  • 5 Years of experience.
  • Experience in technology delivery, program/project management, technology operations, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to track complex work, identify gaps or risks, and drive actions through completion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to move from a reported issue to an understanding of root cause, impact, and path to resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise updates for different audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Working knowledge of technology delivery concepts such as APIs, system integrations, data flows, testing environments, application dependencies, release management, and production implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively across Technology, Product, and Business teams without relying solely on formal authority.
  • High attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of broader program objectives and critical priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities, dependencies, and delivery plans may change.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies, business processes, and AI-enabled tools.
